Also in Rhino news: Our contact at Rhino tells us (as we suspected) the glitches that people have noticed on the disks containing episode 603- THE DEAD TALK BACK in the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection: Volume 8 came from the original source master. We are told that Rhino did its best to clean the problems up. They tell us the only other alternative was to find another episode. which would have meant “another long journey into the dark night of rights clearance and a significant delay of the release,” our source says. “So we decided to go with it.” There are no plans to offer replacement discs.

Due to a rights issue, Rhino has had to immediately discontinue the selling of episode 517- BEGINNING OF THE END on DVD and VHS. The Info Club is also immediately halting sales of the episode. Rhino and BBI are working to resolve the issue, but that’s all the information we have at this time. Stay tuned…
A number of people have reported problems with THE DEAD TALK BACK DVD included in the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection: Volume 8. There are several places where the DVD “skips” or drops frames. There’s also a place, about 25 minutes in, where the top portion of the screen gets all blocky and faded looking. Filmed over six weeks in the run-up to the premiere of “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones,” the film examines the lives of fans living in the queue in front of the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. There will also be commentary tracks will also include Samm Levine and John Daley (from the TV series “Freaks and Geeks”), Dana Gould, Paget Brewster, Paul F. Tompkins and more.
