Posted by , on December 11th, 2004 Bill Corbett and his Poker Night writing partner, Rob Greenberg, have sold a spec script entitled STARSHIP DAVE to Paramount Pictures. Bill tells us that it’s “a sci-fi comedy with a bit of romantic comedy thrown in for good measure.” Variety gives a few more details:
Story’s launched with a massive fireball from space hitting New York’s Central Park, followed by an ordinary man emerging unscathed from the gigantic crater. The man turns out to be a spaceship operated by 100 human-looking aliens who are one-quarter inch tall and seeking a way to save their planet; complications ensue when their captain falls in love with an Earth woman who’s always picked losers for previous romances.
Bill says that, like any screenplay, the odds are against it ever getting made. “But,” he adds, “we’ll give it a shot, and hope for the best, and pray that it doesn’t wind up as a MST3K fodder-type flick if / when it’s finished.”
Posted by , on December 5th, 2004 HATE MAIL, the play written by Bill Corbett and playwright Kira Obolensky, has just been published by Playscripts, Inc.
HATE MAIL premiered onstage way back in 1996, starring Mike Nelson and veteran MAD TV performer Mo Collins, and has been done in numerous productions around the country since then. The play takes place through various forms of correspondence, and has been called a “twisted, hilarious alternative to the much-produced LOVE LETTERS.”
