Longtime fan Mike Ward attended the recent “PawPet Megaplex” event in Orlando, where Trace Beaulieu was guest of honor. Click HERE to read his report.
There are two new interviews with Mike Nelson we’d like to tell you about:
Inverted Entertainment has an interview in which Mike discusses his days at MST3K and his work afterwards. You can read it by visiting http://www.invertedentertainment.com/main.php and clicking on the “interviews” link. The Journal of the Lincoln Heights Literary Society pretty much skips MST3K and instead talks with Mike about religion, politics and writing in general. You can read the interview at http://liheliso.com/Interviews/MikeNelson030704.html. Thanks to Dennis Redler and Laurel Sutton for the info! In The Rake magazine, Mary Jo Pehl takes a firm stand in favor of people being hired for jobs they never applied for. Especially if one of those people is her. You can read her bold stance at http://www.rakemag.com/progress/detail.asp?catID=52&itemID=13056.
![]() On Sunday, January 11, Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett took part in a “Mystery Science Theatre 3000 Symposium” at SF Sketchfest: The San Francisco Sketch Comedy Festival. You can read our report of the event by clicking HERE. For another perspective on the Symposium, read this article in the Bay Area’s Contra Costa Times. SACRAMENTO–U.S. Magistrate Judge Gregory G. Hollows Wednesday denied the Philippines’ request that Roger Lawrence “Rod Lauren” Strunk be sent there to stand trial for the murder of his wife, Filipina film actress Nida Blanca. Strunk, 63, known to MSTies as the star of the movie in episode 106- THE CRAWLING HAND was immediately released. He had been held in the Sacramento County Main Jail since mid-May.
In his ruling, Hallows described the evidence submitted by Philippines officials as “inconsistent and conflicting.” Strunk may not be entirely out of the woods, however. Hollows noted that while the Philippines government “has no right to appeal a decision not to extradite,…double jeopardy principles are not in play, and a later, good faith attempt at extradition can be made.” For complete coverage, read the Sacramento Bee‘s story here: |
