 Pleasanton, Calif. — John Madden, the Hall of Fame NFL-coach-turned-broadcaster whose exuberant calls combined with simple explanations provided a weekly soundtrack to NFL games for three decades, died at his home here on Dec. 28. He was 85.
The Washington Post has the story. MSTies may recall that he was mentioned in a host segment in episode 423- BRIDE OF THE MONSTER. Thanks to Tim for the heads up.  Nashville – H. Jackson Brown Jr., author of several self-help books including “Life’s Little Instruction Book,” died at his home here on Nov. 30. He was 81.
“Life’s Little Instruction Book,” a collection of 511 reminders “on how to live a happy and rewarding life” that he wrote for his college-bound son, would spend more than two years on The New York Times bestseller list and was the first book to ever hold the #1 spot on the Times hardcover and paperback lists simultaneously. MSTies will recall Joel reading passages to the bots (who reacted in horror) in a host segment in episode 419- THE REBEL SET.  Actor and stuntman Doug Robinson died Dec. 17. He was 91 and had been a stuntman and actor since the 1950s, and was frequently in the cast of many James Bond movies.
He was also a stuntman for the TV series “Space: 1999,” two episodes of which were fused together into the movie in episode K10- COSMIC PRINCESS. There’s more about him on his Facebook page. Thanks to Tim and Gordon for the heads up. |
