Wow, he was the best part of the Police Academy movies. Much funnier than Tom Hanks.

  4. zap rowsdower says:

best part of the police academy movies?…WTF….what about the guy who did all the sound effects and voices?

  5. trickymutha says:

Sad day here in Spartan land. We will never forget Bubba. He’ll live on as another celluloid hero.

  6. Gary Bowden says:

  11. Sharktopus says:

Waitaminute, he played “Moses” in Superdome and six Police Academy movies? Move over, Charlton Heston.

  12. Alex says:

R.I.P good sir. Superdome introduced me to you and you are in a better place now……

  13. April de Wetpants says:

    Not Hightower!

Anybody with the name Bubba is tops with me!

  14. Nick says:

First Tackleberry and now Hightower. Commandant Lassard is getting up there, I bet he’s next :(

  15. zap_rowsdower says:

why hasn’t anyone even mentioned his football career. He was probably one of the greatest of teams ever to play when he was w/Mighigan State. He has a Superbowl Ring w/the Colts, when he beat my beloved Dallas Cowboys. The world lost a great SPORTS HERO not an actor who appeared in a few movies.

  16. April de Wetpants says:

Wow, Lassard is still alive? He was old in the 1980’s!

  17. radioman970 says:

doesn’t punch out the horse in blazin saddles..?

  18. Sampo says:

    Radioman–that was Alex Karras.

  19. Creeping-Death says:

George Gaynes, who played Lassard, is 94 years old.

  20. trickymutha says:

@!^ Zap- you’re right. He played in two of the greatest games in football history- won neither, but was a true champ. He was in the famous 10-10 tie between #2 Michigan State and #1 Notre Dame in 1966. I was 10 years old and lived in East Lansing. Bubba used to come into the book store where my Mom worked. He was an incredibly funny guy. He played for the Colts in Super Bowl III, the Jets won 16-7. Bubba grew up in segregation, unable to go to a southern school- and Michigan State was a better place for it.

  21. Andrew says:

No offense to the late, great Bubba — but the best thing in the Police Academy films was Bobcat Goldthwait.

  22. trickymutha says:

Andrew- no offense taken- best thing about Bobcat Goldthwait- he’s making a movie based on the Kink’s “Schoolboys in Disgrace” awesome!
