Are You a MST3K/Cinematic Titanic/RiffTrax Web Reviewer/Blogger?

We got an email from a guy named Doug Glassman, who has embarked, on his blog, on a RiffTrax reviewing thing. His review of three shorts, “Buying Food,” “Cooking Terms” and “Drawing For Beginners: The Rectangle” is here. I particularly like the “band name” subtopic.

Anyway it got us thinking: We’re well aware that there are a lot of folks out there reviewing MST3K episodes. (For example, Lazlo has started back up, after a break, and didn’t tell me!) And who knows, there may be people reviewing Cinematic Titanic or RiffTrax too. And we probably should gather together a list of those people for your edification.

So if you’re reviewing MST3K, Cinematic Titanic or RiffTrax, throw your URL into a comment below and we’ll slap together a permanent list shortly.

(Oh, and, as always, be patient if your post doesn’t appear right away. WordPress gets nervous when comments have links. We’ll approve your post if it gets stuck.)

I didn’t do the KTMA episodes though.

I’m a reviewer for Amazon.com. I have the top review for every MST3K release there since Volume VI, plus several Rifftrax and Film Crew DVDs and the new Manos 2-disc set as well. Considering the number of people who read those before making a purchase I thought it might be worth mentioning.

I started my blog in 2005, modeling it after the great John Stanley “Creature Feature” movie guides–essentially a writing exercise (which was great since back then I was more addicted to Netflix than to my novel).

I am currently going back and tagging older posts with this label, where appropriate. Enjoy in moderation, please, and thank you.

Thanks for posting the link to my blog! As a thank-you, I’ve posted two more reviews: “Tooth Truth” and a dual review of the “At Your Fingertips” shorts.

While I can’t claim they’re the greatest MST3K commentary out there, I keep my online journal going in good part through taking looks at episodes. I’ve got about three-quarters of the series covered by now, and the posts are linked to at http://www.keithpalmer.ca/mst3k/episodes.html.

Not mine, and it concluded in May 2011, but I’d highly recommend Skenderberg’s War of The Colossal MST3K Fan Guide. It has reviews of every MST3K episode (even the KTMAs, though not in depth) and almost every MST3K related media project up to that point. I think they’re quite well written and sometimes semi-informative. The site is at http://mst3kfanguide.blogspot.com/

This reminds me: While 1950’s “Buying Food” and 1972’s “Magical Disappearing Money” address basically the same topic, the former, while somewhat condescending, gives much better advice all around. (“Powdered milk is just good as fresh,” my shiny metal ass.) It makes me want to compare other decades-separated mental hygiene films on the same topic. Has anyone else observed this phenomenon? Is there a short from the ’80s where the spirit of Alexander Hamilton exhorts a young man to trust his entire allowance to an unregulated S&L?

I used to play bass for Narcoleptic Hobbit.

@#11: I think that’s “Wall Street”. Just replace “spirit of Alexander Hamilton” with “Michael Douglas”.

Thanks for the idea, though–I was thinking of doing a comparison of time-separated auto safety shorts, and I think I’ll do “Highway Mania” and “Seatbelts: The Life-Saving Habit”.

Hi, I’ve been reviewing Rifftrax since 2007 and have so far written over a hundred reviews of Riffrax movies, shorts and the three Cinematic Titanic Live DVDs. You can find them at http://mstings.blogspot.com/2007/03/really-quick-n-dirty-rifftrax-reviews.html (Warning: Some reviews contain coarse language.)

I don’t do reviews per se, but because of MST3K, my insanity for the film ‘Village of the Giants’ was fueled in my early teens, coupled with my glimpses of the film at the age of 9.

I have been the webmaster of the only fanpage dedicated to the film, at http://www.villageofthegiants.net. I even gave the MST3K’ed version a tiny tribute page with a lineup of some of my favorite riffs from the show, as well as a little MST backstory for the uninitiated.

One thing I did that some liked was I transcribed the theater bantering and the film dialogue for Experiment 523 (though no outside-the-theater dialogue is included). It can be found in the ‘Transcripts’ link on my homepage. For the MST stuff, click ‘Information, and you’ll see a familiar image.

I’ve also interviewed 6 people who worked on the film. And talking to them, they even provided me with yummy treats. One allowed me to view and transcribe his script that he still had, and another provided me with full audio tracks to two songs that were credited, but hadn’t been heard whole in over 4 decades.

It’s not really a blog and it’s not my site, but I still post on the old “Even Deeper Blurting” message board about what ever experiment, and whatever outside project, I’m watching that week.

    It’s over at http://members2.boardhost.com/crowtrobot.

I’m rather late to this thread. This is because I had to dig up the MST3K I had posted on my personal blog and tag them as such. Also I cleaned them up a bit. The posts in question consist of a plot summary based half on what happens on the screen and half on the riffs, followed by a few thoughts on the quality of the riffing and the host segments. Though it’s been a while since I’ve written any, I imagine I’ll be starting up again (though not on any regular schedule).
