Bill Planning Comic Book and Looking for Your Help

Bill Corbett has opened up a kickstarter page to help finance a comic book he’s working on called “Super Powered Revenge Christmas.” He’s working with our pal the massively talented Len Peralta. Let Bill explain it all to you here.

Interesting that Len Peralta also drew Trace’s “Silly Rhymes for Belligerent Children.” One artist, two Crows.

Wish him luck as well. Has he tried contacting one of the smaller, established comics publishers like maybe Image or Dark Horse to see if they could publish it? I’m not really sure if self-publishing is such a good investment. Or perhaps he could talk with Trace Bealeau (sp? I’m sorry), who I believe did his own comic awhile back. He’d probably know more about this stuff than I do.

Are Image and Dark Horse considered “small” publishers? I always thought they were in the big leagues.

Len Peralta is very talented, I enjoyed his work on Silly Rhymes. But how much do we have to donate to get some of Bill’s signed artwork? I’d love to have that cat drawing.

@Neptune Man Image and Dark Horse normally trade places for the third and fourth largest comic book publisher, but they get 4-6% of the total market, vs Marvel and DC each getting 30-40%. So even though they’re established, they’re comparatively small.

@Flying Saucers over Oz: Several people doing Image books have used Kickstarter to raise funds, since payment from Image books is all on the back end, and if they book doesn’t turn a profit you’ve worked for months to earn nothing. Kickstarter ensures the creative team can get some income before that.

Am I missing something with this Image/Dark Horse talk? I got the understanding from the Kickstarter info it’s going to be an online only comic (except for printing some “reward” copies). So that makes a publisher unnessecary.

The Kickstarter page mentions it being an “ACTUAL comic book” (caps are Bill’s, not mine) and that the fundraising will go to cover “publishing, rewards, and postage for said rewards.”

Major> I guess I missed that part. A paper book is good.

Either way I made a $300 pledge. I can’t wait to appear in one of the crowd scenes.
