Actually, they’re dressed as the Shout! figurines. You can tell because Crow isn’t proportionate. :)

I think it’s supposed to be Crow after he had that nasal reduction at the end of ‘parts’.
I only hope the Crow cosplayer introduced himself with: “I’m Crow T. Robot and I’m gold! What a stupid colour gold is!”
That tiny Crow-face just made my day. I concur – those costumes must have taken some serious work!
These are great. I love the fact that the person in the Crow costume holds her hands like pincers all the time. Now thats commitment to the role.

SakuraCon, because when I think of Anime/Manga conventions, I think of Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot.
@15 It’s the con making sure any costumer’s weapons (like swords) are “safe”, and not going to be used to recreate any scenes from “Kill Bill”. ;)
“Peacebonded” weapons are usually secured with red zip ties so they can’t be drawn, even if they are duller than a butter knife.
Were there ever any bot costumes seen at the Conventiocon ExpoFest-A-Ramas?

I was TV’s Frank for Halloween one year.
That was a much easier costume.
With this kind of dedication, CT needs to come back to Seattle. It’s been too long!

BTW, peacebonding is just blunting/taping/securing anything that might look like a weapon. At an Anime-ish festival you could see someone carrying around a Katana-style blade or some prop sword. If it could be any danger, you take it a booth and they secure it, or assure it has no projectiles, or it’s blunt. They put a tie or marker on it once it’s been bonded. It just means it can’t hurt anyone.

I didn’t know fans of Japanimotion were also fans of Mst3k. I guess they have never watched Invasion of the Neptune Men or Prince of Space, nor the kaiju movies.
#29 As a longtime anime fan, I can say safely that yes, there are many fans of both. Particularly if you’re around my age, I’d suppose, since the early to mid -’90s is when anime became very popular in the US for kids.
Japan is responsible for both deeply excellent cinema (Seven Samurai, anyone?) and the goofy destined-for-MST3K stuff, just like Hollywood. I find all the kaiju episodes, Prince of Space, and Fugitive Alien I/II screamingly hilarious. I’d watch that stuff un-MSTed any day. It’s fun.
Oh! Peacebonding is also done at Renaissance festivals as well. Huzzah!

It’s awesome that so many years after MST3K went off the air there are so many people around celebrating it publicly at popular events like anime conventions. Sometimes it feels like the show is better known now than when it was on the air. That’s good for ensuring more DVD releases from Shout! Factory.
You know, this turns the tables regarding relative sizes of Crow and Servo. Now, if Servo wanted to make a move on Crow, there’s not much he could do bout it.
I was a Japanimaniac when I was in my teens, and the people I knew in high school and online who liked MST3K also loved anime. The two mix surprisingly well! :-P
This is why I don’t attend these freakfests: too many idiots dressed up like that! Even if it is Servo and Crow.

(And anyways, we’re talking about a TV show here where the main characters dressed in insane costumes pretty much every episode.)

And I still think peacebonding is something a little more freaky than taping up a sword, ahem….
Clearly trying to out nerd everyone else, the guy dressed up like Crow has made a reference to “Parts: The Clonus Horror” when Crow gets a nose job.

Based on SailorTweek’s photo, the “guy” dressed up like Crow is pretty cute.
I have seen a lot of models of Crow and Tom at the San Diego Comic-con.
Oddly, I have only seen women in the Gizmonic Red Jump Suit.
You would think that this would be a relatively simple costume to make and wear,
however I have seen only two and both occupied by women.
Theses are great. And what is really interesting about them is that the young ladies look like they
could not have seen the original show and are going by the DVDs or YouTube videos.
MST3K Lives and continues to grow!
I’d guess the reason more people dress as Crow or Tom than Joel or Mike is because Tom and Crow are more of a challenge. Dunno cosplayers, but I get the distinct feeling they want a PROJECT, not something they can throw together over an afternoon.

HEY NOW! This is that Crow in that picture! And yes! We did make those costumes. The reason Crow’s head is a little bit smaller is because we literally had less than 5 days to create the costume. My friend George did the Tom Servo costume in about 3 weeks, and we had less time to get Crow done. But THANK YOU SO MUCH FELLOW FANS! And I was extremely dedicated to the role! There were a few pictures I did with my had in the “OK” gesture and yelled “IT STINKS!”.

OH! And we did have a Joel (who really is named Joel, he wanted to be Mike), but he only made it for part of the Con.

That is a dream date, I’d say. The Servo outfit is absolutely amazing, too. What did you use for his dome? Outstanding costumes – thanks for sharing!
George spent WEEKS trying to find the sphere. It was kind of the make it or break it of the costume. But he actually found it on amazon from a lighting store! It was perfect! And we are going to re-make the head of Crow so it’s more proportionate! I was disturbed at the size too. But five days…right? haha =P
