The trailer alone has more Frank Gifford than I can stand. I have to watch a whole movie???

And what’s up with the first plot summary on the IMDB?

Even I was a little shocked by the “Wanna see my cool van?” line he gave the kid. Does anyone say that but a pedophile? Haven’t seen it yet but I hope RT does that justice. Impressive array of has-beens (Gene Kelly? really?) for a cheap fad movie.

Speaking of which, has Rifftrax ever done “Six-Pack” with Kenny Rogers? They mention it several times in MST3K. Another film with an aging star hanging around a bunch of young orphans, whom he should never have been allowed to hang out with or near ever in the first place.

He’s using the leftover costumes from Angel’s Revenge!

By the way, I wouldn’t call Gene Kelly a “has been”. His legacy lives on.

My god. The original trailer’s a hoot, let alone the Rifftrax one.

I cannot wait for the insanity of The Apple riffed.

Heh. That was a pretty funny Rifftrax. Good enough for repeat viewings.

I saw this one at the movie theater back in ’77. We never missed his jumps. Then again, we didn’t really watch to see him jump. We watched to see him wipe out in spectacular fashion and splinter bones and declare this one his last jump, I really promise this time. I mean I’m just a big scabby bladder filled with bloody puss and bone fragments at this point.

It doesn’t get much more ’70s than this, folks.

So I wonder what they had on Gene Kelly and Red Buttons to get them to do this movie… Marjoe Gortner, well, he was just a “crappy ’70’s TV/movie” staple, and you can see Leslie Nielson on the phone to Abrahams, Zucker and Zucker during that one scene…

    Good RT fodder overall.

Not that I own this on DVD already, without the guys, but double dipping for RT would be no problem here. That is… if I did.. but I don’t already have it. That would… be like… for stupid people and stuff. :nerd:

This one was absolutely fantastic. I would compare it to an average Mike episode of MST3K, which by comparison makes it one of the best RiffTraxes ever.

I keep misreading the poster/DVD cover as “Evel Knievel in his only starring role!” Kind of fitting, really.

#5 Kids thought he was pretty cool for a while. (I know I did.) There was a lot of merchandising. Remember all the action figures with the hand cranked motorcycles? I think the Snake River Canyon jump was his Waterloo though.

There was a 70’s Hanna Barbera cartoon called “Devlin” that was obviously inspired by him. Even more so when the character appeared on Harvey Birdman.

#11: Evel did a bunch of tv guest shots at the height of his career.

Now when are they going to do the George Hamilton E.K. movie? ;-)

And let us hope Robbie Knievel has a sense of humor!

Re #4: They’re riffing The Apple? Great! I had to rent that from Netflix just to confirm that it was a real movie and not just a fever dream I had as a child and misremembered as a movie, and I realized that the film really was a hippie/disco musical Village People interpretation of the books of Genesis and Revelation. A real WTF special.

  15. Gorn Captain: Yes, I had the Evel Knievel doll-…errr, action figure, that is. And the car

Wow, how did I miss this in 1977? I was the perfect age for it… oh, that’s right there was this OTHER movie that year.

Please, please, please do more 70’s films RT. They are comedic gold.

i just upgraded to blu-ray dvd player and wireless internet. can anyone tell me if it is possible to order these rifftrax vods and watch them on my tv instead of my computer moniter. yes, i am very technologically retarded.

  20. cbrian: I’ve been waiting for them to work that out. Like the digital copies that come with dvds lately. Who wants to watch a movie on their computer, taking up hard drive space, when they have a hard copy they can play on their computer, PSP or dvd player? More and more people are just going to want everything streamed. Easy as Netflix.

@14: yeah, Bill mentioned that on Twitter a few weeks back. They’ve said on the official forum that it’ll be out next month.

I plan on watching this tonight.
