That “Bumper to Bumper” featurette intrigues me. Is that a collection of all the Turkey Day bumpers from ’91 to ’95? I would think the ’93 bumpers would be unreleasable, since Shout! would probably have to track down everyone who was at that party and have ’em sign a release or something.

I really wanna see those coasters. They’re kind of the deciding factor for me, I don’t mind the tins so I don’t really need a slipcase.

“Clokey”? I thought it was “Pokey”

  4. THE SCREAMING SKULL is one of my favorite episodes. That Making-Of featurette sounds cool.

Art Clokey is the guy who created Gumby so I guess that’s what the reference is to.

I’m just guessing, but since the Turkey Day Bumpers are BBI creations, whatever contract was signed at the time of filming probably gave BBI full rights to the footage, probably no need of a secondary contract to release the bumpers on a video/DVD release.

I’m calling this my “GET A BOX!” set. Torgo gets all the attention but for my money Mickey is a thousand times creepier for his emo-loner-deadtalker routine (with just a hint of Snagglepuss). Also because he’s the director.

So is this in lieu of the Turkey Day internet stream that Joel did last year? He had eluded to doing that again this year, but maybe they (Shout & Joel) are doing this instead? Just curious.

Some great titles here, The Screaming Skull and Squirm are favorites of mine, and while I enjoy the riffing in The Painted Hills, I find the movie to be REALLY depressing! As bizarre as it sounds, I have gotten teary eyed multiple times watching this one…

Was kind of hoping for a reunion with all 3 stars of Squirm, but one’s good enough.

hellokittee #9> I don’t think any of us know for sure at this point but my gut feeling is we will get all of the above as far as Turkey Day goes. I think it is highly likely we’ll get a pretty comprehensive collection of classic Turkey Day bumpers. I think we will get the Joel bumpers from last year’s streamed Turkey Day and I think we’ll get a second streamed Turkey Day this year. But will probably have to wait until a future release before any 2014 bumpers show up on a box set.
I’m going to be optimistic on this one and go with that theory until we here differently.

I can’t believe there isn’t more excitement that we’re finally getting Squirm! It’s been a favorite of me and my buddies for years. “A Case of Spring Fever” was a great short and nearly every riff hit the bull’s eye. The movie itself had a lot of great riffs, too. I’ve been waiting for this one for years, so can’t wait to get the set.

I’ve also been waiting a long time for The Painted Hills. I think it was the first episode I watched where something struck me so funny that I had to stop the tape and laugh for 15 minutes straight. The scene that did that to me was “The first thing I’m going to do is buy me a montage!” montage. The whole montage was funny, but when Joel fills Jonathan’s cheerful-but-silent dialogue with “The world is dying!” I absolutely couldn’t stop laughing. He just looked so happy about it.
