And every time they refer to a character as “Cooky the Clown”, I completely loose it. “Hoooo hooo, Cooky’s at it again! Oh, Cooky…”
Who else but “Jan In the Pan” from “The Brain that Wouldn’t Die?”

“Twig Boy”, the shirtless wonder. Otherwise known as Charles B. Pierce’s little boy. Not to be confused with the other Little Creature.
Don’t forget that Cameron Mitchell’s character in Space Mutiny was “Captain Santa Claus.”
In Red Zone Cuba, Coleman became Curly the Stooge at many points in the riffing, even devolving into a nature documentary riff near the end.
What else? Corn Job! From “Gamera vs. Guiron.”
And My Cheese Steak! From “Colossus and the Headhunters.”
“The Fish-Lipped Guy” from “The Band That Played ‘California Lady'”. A two-fer!
Also from Space Mutiny: “Lobster Boy”.

Those have to be some of the greatest MST3K nicknames that originated from profound misunderstandings.

Continually referring to Coleman Francis as “Curly” throughout Red Zone Cuba was just great. It only got funnier as the film went on.

“Rick Astley” for the communications officer on the bridge in ‘Space Mutiny.’ It was only in one line, when Mike has Captain Santa saying, “Whaddaya got for me, Rick Astley?” but he really does look like him.
I think if I were playing Crow’s game of adopting a catch phrase, that would be mine. I use it around the house when someone in my family calls for me. “Whaddaya got for me, Rick Astley?” I think I want that on a t-shirt.
It was in a host segment, but when they recreated the opening titles for Cave Dwellers, they called the bad guy “The Evil John Saxon-type Guy”.
If I remember correctly, there’s at least two characters they refer to as Colonel Sanders lookalikes, one in Gamera as “Japanese Colonel Sanders” and another is one of the apes in Time of the Apes. Interesting how Colonel Sanders has become relevant again lately. I think MST3K sort of proves that pop culture works in cycles like that.
