Yes we have! And Deathstalker was considered to be the hardest to get from season 7, so that might be finished off soon as well.

Yes season 5 in completed with 12 to the moon plus with design for dreaming short.
Being from another planet is great episode the mummy who really is an alien movie. One of those film ventures movies. Deathstalker is one of my favorites episodes and the movie to me is really goofy. Teenage caveman word is the law and the law is the word. I hope this volume doesn’t bring evil with it touch.

This looks like a great set! Really looking forward to it–esp Deathstalker. ( I must admit i’m always a little disappointed when the releases don’t sync up with the episode guide here–we won’t return to 405 for about four years.)

AWESOME SET!!!!!!!! They finally cracked Corman!!!! Man, this is awesome! Plus, Teenage Caveman is the last Arkoff/AIP episode, an, of course, season 5 will now all be on DVD!!!!!!!! What a great time to be a fan!

I’m still hoping that Joel’s story about working things out with a certain “eccentric old heiress” means that we will get a full box set of Susan Hart episodes next. Guess we have to wait until April to find out! :-)

So that’s finally Season 5 done and dusted! Season 3 has been whittled down to three episodes left, as has Season 7, while Season 4 is down to four!

Good set – I haven’t seen these in a long while – but Teenage Caveman is a classic, both the movie and the MST3K version. Being from another planet I remember as liking a lot back in the day – it’s a rather Scooby-Doo-ish movie really. 12 to the moon I have no memory of, I get it confused with First Spaceship on Venus, which I’m sure is not the same, but since I don’t remember 12 to the moon at all – that’s how I remember it. Season 7 is just so strong in general always happy to get an episode from it.

Hard to believe there’s only 26 unissued episodes left. Who would’ve thought they’d ever get this far?

I assume you’re referring to this news story regarding Corman becoming the victim of a multi-million dollar ponzi scheme? He invested $73 million invested in a hedge fund run by corrupt fund manager. Only $13 million had been recovered, at least from last I heard. He may have lost as much as $55 million! Reports also say he’s looking to sell his whole Concorde-New Horizons film library.

    Another awesome set..
The problem is , they are setting themselves up for an all PD set with titles not necessarily high on everyone’s list
Teenage Cavement and 12 to the Moon were givens because of the deals Shout had
Finally good to see 405 – one more Season 4 as its probably going to be difficult to get the rest – and Dealthstalker had been rumored for awhile and now here it is !

What Season is next to go ? :)

  16. For a long time, I have held my tongue…until now. Every time Shout! releases a set, there are a group of people who complain that the set isn’t that great or uninteresting, etc. Are we not MST3K fans? Shouldn’t we be thrilled with every set they release? I love EVERY episode of the show; and I am very grateful for every set – regardless of the titles. We will never know what Shout! goes through to obtain the rights to these classics. I really wonder what the folks at Shout! think when, after a lot of work, announce the titles, only to get a “meh” from many fans. Thank you, Shout! Factory…you have THIS fan’s admiration and appreciation.

Between “Mr. Meh” in Post #1 and all those negative nellies who are grousing about the new MST3K series because they can’t stand all those hip Internet kids with their hula hoops and their loud rock music, I think there is a certain faction of “fans” whose primary method of enjoying something is to complain about it.

But yes, this is a great set. “Teenage Caveman” and “Deathstalker” are the only two titles in it that I’ve seen, so the other two will be new for me, but “Deathstalker” alone makes it worth it to me.

    No fair, Sampo/Shout!

I’m already trying to contain my brain matter from the ongoing Kickstarter revelations/successes.

Must you push me ever deeper into a state of nirvana that I cannot fully process?

One of these episodes was “likely” to appear on DVD.

    One was “unlikely.”

    TWO were “very unlikely.”

    Fantastic news!

Now, if you will kindly excuse me, I have to go to an official Star Wars site forum to bitch and complain about how “meh” The Force Awakens will be.

Oh, wait. That would be IGNORANT and make me a PATHETIC LOSER trying to get attention, right?

    Right.

  26. Barry the Nomad says:

So with 26 episodes remaining, that means we have 6.5 volumes remaining (making the huge assumption that every episode is even able to be released). 7.5 counting this newly announced volume.

    2016: Volumes 35, 36, 37
    2017: Volumes 38, 39, 40
2018: Volume 41 and a truncated 42 (the Douglas Adams fan in me hopes it all ends with Volume 42)

I know there is little hope for them, but the two Godzilla episodes would make for a great two episode set. Include some bonuses, sell it at a premium to pay for the rights. I’d be all over that.

Interesting to note that the new Kickstarter season would release to DVD/blu-ray around 2017 – the same time that the original series DVD releases would be hitting a wall. Perhaps Shout and Joel timed the new season with this in mind? They can’t make any more new volumes, so they will rely on a new series, releases of Rhino volumes, and (fingers crossed) KTMA volumes.

Edit: D’oh! Realized the OOP Volume 10 Godzilla episode is not being counted above. Throws off things a little but I am too lazy to revise.

Good set. I wholeheartedly approve. ‘Teenage Caveman’ is a legacy episode from my old Turkey Day tapes, and I’ll enjoy seeing it on DVD. (I actually really like some bits from the movie, like when Vaughn pretty much straight up says he’s going to kill Frank de Kova or die trying.) ‘Being From Another Planet’ is one I’ve only seen on YouTube, but I love that cheesy late 70s/early 80s color but cheap sf/horror stuff. (‘It Lives By Night’ is another good one in that vein.) The other two I don’t really remember but look forward to experiencing.

212 – Godzilla vs. Megalon was released, though. Like you said, it’s out of print. But, so are many other releases. If you count 212 – Godzilla vs. Megalon as needing a release, you’d also have to count all the other OOP releases, such as 106 – The Crawling Hand, 209 – The Hellcats … well, you get my point.

Now, I’m not opposed to OOP titles being brought back. I’m all in favor of it.

By the way, they could re-release Shorts Volume 3 on DVD. It was only a limited release as part of a special edition Essentials package.

    There’s also:
    MST Poopie!
    MST Poopie II
    Play MST For Me
    Play MST For Me 2
    Play MST For Me 3
(or the Best Brains DVD pack, Play MST For Me Triple Decker)
    The Last Dance – Raw
    The MST Scrapbook
Tom Servo’s All Time Favorite Host Segments
Tom Servo’s All Time Favorite Host Segments Vol. II
Tom Servo’s All Time Favorite Host Segments Vol. III
Tom Servo’s All Time Favorite Host Segments Vol. IV
Tom Servo’s All Time Favorite Host Segments Vol. V

There’s enough that can be scrounged from that to pad out releases. With 3 episodes and a “Special Feature Disc” they could get 9 (well, 8-3/4) releases.

    Kansas: Being From Another Planet

It’s the sort of early ’80s, lo-fi science fiction/horror flick that I so wish they could’ve scored many, many more of during Joel’s era as host …as opposed to the veritable deluge of black n white’s they did. ‘Being’ is a re-worked title aka Time Walker 1982

I’ve always viewed Volumes 9 and 10 as being outside the usual OOP releases, as all other OOP DVDs (to my knowledge) had a reasonable shelf life before going out of print and were available for quite some time at nominal prices on the used market. 9 and 10, meanwhile, were very much f*** ups on Rhino’s part and as such I’ve always wanted re-releases in which the rights were legitimately managed so we at least have a reasonable window of time to grab the sets.

Yahoo! Teenage Caveman! Another Corman “masterpiece” I never expected to see on an official release.

Which means we’re going to get CATCHING ROSS! A Ballyhoo documentary on him might be interesting, based on his Wiki page…

Poopie was released as an extra on the Rhino “Manos” release, at least. And Poopie II was released as an extra on “Teenage Strangler” in Rhino’s Volume 10, but apparently it was *gasp* EDITED! Sheesh… I didn’t realize that until I looked it up just now. That’s sad. I wonder if it was a time thing…

But like you said about OOP episodes, I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing those re-released with new sets. “The Last Dance — RAW!” should be included with Diabolik whenever that is finally released, if nothing else…

I also hope shout continues bringing back the rhino sets, as they are with volume one, so I can complete my collection. And perhaps creating legitimate volumes from the singleton releases?

I continue to be astounded at what Shout has been able to do with mst3k, and I feel that the rights to the series are in good hands with them. And excellent timing that just as they’re starting to run out of releasable episodes, a new season will be made.

Unfortunately, the two MST3K Godzillas were the former PD ones now being held by Sony, so Toho’s not likely to free them up any time soon. Just hope that you held on to that disk of Gmrrrff vs. Mmmrrrmmff.

Most of the Cormans were public domain, though, except for the Susan Hart hostages, and the long vigil continues.
Corman’s already been running out of money after New Concorde, unless you know of another reason why the director of Masque of the Red Death would be producing Pirahnagator movies for SyFy.

Still, even though Deathstalker contains one of the squickily creepiest misogynist M&tB moments ever, Teenage Caveman makes it a buy for me. (“I’m going to count to three for you to get your hand off my shoulder…”)

Godzilla vs Megalon was recently released on Bluray by Media Blasters.

Based on this, and based on the fact that more American Godzilla movies are scheduled to be released over the next five years, I don’t see these rights becoming available for a long, long time.
