How CUTE! But where’s Gypsy? Is her body not doable in the Funko format? I definitely want Tom and maybe Pearl.

I don’t collect these things but I did happen to buy my wife all the Golden Girls for Christmas so it looks like another Funko holiday is coming up.

The bot prototypes look a little wonky but I suspect there will be minor changes before release.

I think I’m going to get Bots, Joel, Dr. F., and Frank. Although that little Brain Guy is kinda adorable. But then I’d feel guilty without Pearl and Bobo. Oh, life!

Totally getting them all!!!! Might be my only Christmas present but they will top them all!!  :present:

  4. Goshzilla says:

GASP! Joel only had pictures of the Bots on Twitter. Are the others real Funkos, or homemade customs? I will simply die if we never get a TV’s Frank bobblehead.

To each his own. Evidently these products are immensely popular and, while they’re not my cup of tea, I’m glad that Joel & Co. can take advantage of the demand for them and earn a few well-deserved merchandising dollars while giving the people what they want. Season 11 has not even premiered and I already feel like our odds are fantastic for a Season 12.

For those of us who find the Funko aesthetic disturbing, I offer this cathartic piece:

  7. It took me awhile to realize the character on the bottom left is supposed to be Pearl…

Ummm yeah, the figures on the bottom picture are indeed custom made and not official, so it would be best if you guys removed that picture.
Aside from that, Crow and Servo look pretty cool!

They HAVE to have Gypsy, ohpleaseohpleaseohplease. I’ll buy them… for my grandson. Uh, yeah, that’s the ticket. For the grandson. Absolutely. Not for myself. (whistles)

  10. Wes Shad says:

Yeah it might be best to remove the image of the customs, it seems they’re confusing some people. Only the Tom and Crow in the first picture are the official Pops.

Although I never get anything like this I WILL get these.

For Christmas just for a stocking stuffer I bought my wife a GoT and a Harry Potter Funko and I have to say they are quite nice, nicer than I would have thought. For someone (still) working, they would make nice desktop figures (and conversation pieces) and here in my home I can put them in front of my computer (where the figures from the MST3K DVD tins currently reside).

The aesthetic is a bit of an acquired taste, but I do like it.

MST3K has such rich possibilities for a regular action figure line. Hope this is just the beginning.

I’ve been waiting for this to happen. My wife & kids love the Pop Vinyl figures, and they’ve been collecting them for a couple of years now. I have a few, including the Metaluna Mutant, who looks lonely without some MST3K buddies to hang with.

Here’s hoping they pad the line out with some characters from the movies. I want a Phantom of Krankor!

Since it doesn’t look like the Lego thing is happening I will say, “Hey, Funko! Shut up and take my money!”

Who needs Skittles or gumballs when you have a Tom Servo vending machine dispensing Funk Pops of himself?

I’m happy for this news as far as the brand success of the show goes but that said, I reeeeeeally hate Funko’s figures. The aesthetic isn’t “disturbing” as put above, the reason they’re so off putting to me as someone who likes a nice, quality figure is because their uniform, cookie cutter style just screams “lazy cash in.” It’s a smart business strategy by whoever founded the company for sure, just have your figures all look the same and do little more than pallete swap for most of them. The only figures which look as though they had a modicum of effort are Crow and Tom. You couldn’t pay me to own the human figures.

The “disturbing” part for me is that having the eyes that big but all black makes it look like these hundreds of pop-culture characters had their eyes gouged out and replaced with buttons by the witch from Coraline.

That said, it’s tempting to finally be able to buy any sort of plastic representation of the SOL’s crew and tormentors.

But I agree with #13&#14 that I’d rather have a proper action figure line that keeps expanding with movie characters, which is why I’m REALLY hoping we get MST3K ReAction figures once the new season takes off. They’ve already done an amazing variety for old movies, including the Creature From the Black Lagoon, an unintentional foot in the door for our purposes! And they recently did an Alien Queen vs. Ripley with a Power Loader that could be remolded into a familiar drum machine…though even at 3.75″ scale, ReAction Megaweapon would be too much to hope for.

Still, these could end up being the first (and only) Pop figures I actually buy.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who is not enamored of this particular pop culture cash machine. They’re the “Uncanny Valley” of cuteness — not quite truly cute, just close enough to cute to be off-putting. As Bob Mackey puts it, the style is, “Hello Kitty meets fetal alcohol syndrome.”

Yeeaa…I’m gonna have to pass on these hideous deformed nightmare monstrosities. I’ll just make do with my Moore Creations bots, the dvd figures and(eventually)the mimobot memory sticks from kickstarter. Overjoyed however that the brains are getting money from them, and getting MST3K some added exposure from them simply being in stores!

Is that supposed to be Joel? It looks more like Mike…or is it a composite of both?

“He’s got… lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn’t seem to be livin’… until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white, and then… oh, then you hear that terrible, high-pitched screamin’…”

Amen, brother. I hate these things. It’s crap like this that defines, for ill, “nerd culture.” I don’t normally get on the environmental high horse, but please folks, don’t buy this useless plastic crap. Spend your money on USEFUL plastic crap instead.

Just FYI, Funko, who was making the Reaction line as well as these Pop! figures, is no longer making Reaction figures, effective immediately. Funko had some kind of partnership with a company called Super7, not exactly clear on what it was, but Super7 is now going to be making the Reaction line. Speculation is that price per Reaction figure will now be in the $15-$20 range, which is waaaay too much in my opinion. But what isn’t speculation is that all the lines Funko had announced as coming such as Bill and Ted’s, A-Team, Godfather, etc., have all been canceled. VERY disappointed to not be getting Bill and Ted’s now. So I guess what I’m getting at is that while Funko has the rights to MST3K, the company that now makes the Reaction line, Super7, does not, so we won’t necessarily be getting a Reaction style MST3K line. But I would be all over one if they did.

Just want to point out, like ’em or despise ’em — the only way there will be any more Funkos beyond Tom and Crow will be if we buy Tom and Crow. Or, say, a hundred Toms and Crows. (I guess if you hate them you should fail to buy any number of Toms and Crows.)
