Lots of News from Joel

If you’re a backer, you already know that Joel begins filming on Season 12 today and that there will be six episodes in season 12, all the better to binge-watch, Joel explained.

And, just announced this afternoon, a live tour is coming this fall. More info and a tour schedule here.

Let the speculation begin!

Should we take a chance on The Brain (playing earlier for us — a *bit* of advantage for us old people)?Offhand it doesn’t seem like it would be a “classic” but who knows?

Neither film appeals greatly to me either. But the live setting in a large audience is a completely different thing. Laughter is contagious and even movies I don’t necessarily like turn out better in a live setting than on my couch at home. I’m going.

  2. Dan in WI: That’s exactly what I was thinking. The Brain looks like it lacks charm, but I know I won’t be thinking about that when I see them live (again) in Nashville. Personally, I’m relieved the Deathstalker movie won’t be screening in Nashville, because based on what I’ve read about it in this thread it sounds like a movie to avoid at all costs! (Don’t mean to offend anyone, however, who likes the idea of seeing another Deathstalker movie riffed. As many of us have said here on many occasions, taste is an individual thing.)

No speculation here. I’m just glad that I’m finally going to see MST3k live in my home town — to kick off the tour!

After looking at the prices my wife and I have decided to pass. We just don’t have that kind of money for something which is pretty iffy (because, frankly, Jonah and the Bots left me cold). It would be nice to see Joel, no question about it, but I’m going to guess the writing will be very similar to season 10 (so no laughs for this couple).

Hope they all do well, though — I wish Joel all the best, as he did amuse me for a long time.

The energy of a live MST3K, Rifftrax or even old-school Cinematic Titanic can win over anyone, young or old.
