Episodes in MST3K XVI Set To Be Announced At Comic-Con

Shout! Factory will announce the four episodes that will be in the XVI set at Comic-Con. Neither Erhardt or I will be there this year so we are going to need a volunteer to e-mail/text/tweet us when the announcement is made.

My guess on what the episodes are based on interviews and what they have put out already.
    track of the moonbeast
    the corpse vanishes
    santa claus
crash of the moons or the beatniks
Moonbeast, the corpse vanishes, beatniks are public domain. I put santa claus because i think the volume comes out around december plus it an episode people really want.

Ive been reading the SF threads and I am under an impression we might see
    The Crawling Eye
    Crash of the Moons
    Santa Claus
    Diabolik OR Squirm
I had originally thought we might titles along the lines of
    Track of the MoonBeast,
    Bloodwaters of Dr. Z ,
    The Beast of Yucca Flats,
    Devil Doll,
    The Corpse Vanishes,
    Castle of Fu Manchu
B Ward keeps saying this will be a big time set and there are at least 2 surprises. His clues were some specific titles mentioned in the SF forums and after reading some comments I got certain impressions..
If he picked up pricey ones to license Im sure there will be public domain titles too..
I think a Tom Servo figure might come with this set too come to think of it.

I got my wish on XV with Racket Girls, so I’m hoping for Jack Frost and Daddy-O on XVI. Jack Frost would certainly qualify as one of the 2 “surprises” promised for the set.

Oh yeah–and a Servo figure would be very welcome as well.

Awww man, if they put Daddy-O and The Beatniks on the next set…i’d be in heaven. Round it out with Beast of Yucca Flats and Santa Claus (and a Tom Servo figure) and you’ve got the best box set yet!

  10. Zee says:

Really hope “Santa Claus” is in the set- and it would do shout factory well to release that as a single-disc title around the holidays…

    The Crawling Eye
    Crash of the Moons
    Santa Claus
    Diabolik OR Squirm

That would be pretty epic, more so if Crawling Eye & Diabolik are on the same set. First and last episodes together!

Crash of the moons makes alot of sense to finish that Rocky Jones double feature, and Santa Claus would be nice, but I’d rather see it released on its own, or with “Santa Claus vs…” in a holiday set.

I seriously doubt that “Diabolik” will be showing up any time soon…but it would be great if it did! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for “Track of the Moonbeast”!

#6. I always hope that one. It’s my favorite episode.

Santa Claus would be sweet also. My copy has poor audio quality.

That’s great that an announcement for XVI will be coming practically on the heels of XV’s release. The more I think about it, the more I feel that SF probably got two titles thought tough to acquire and two PDs. We shall see…

So,we have to wait 3 more weeks or so?? That’s usually the time frame when new titles are mentioned after the previous box set is released, isn’t it?? Sounds about right..It would nice if Beast of Yucca Flats is mentioned, since the other Coleman Francis movies are already out.Just have to wait and see..I hope they have a lot of extras on this one,too..Maybe This is MST3K,Making of MST3K,The Tv Wheel,Statical Planets,People Traps;just to name a few..

I sure hope we one day get the Universal horror films featured in season eight. Considering how Universal screwed-up MST3K: The Movie, the LEAST they could do is allow Shout Factory to release them.

I hope that Shout Factory will speed-up their relase schedule for the box sets. It would be great to have them come out every two months.

My dream set is an all-Western European volume…two Joels (Operation Double 007, Warrior of the Lost World or Castle of Fu Manchu) and two Mikes (Devil Fish, Escape 2000 or Puma Man). Both the “long lost European movies restored on DVD” market and MST-inspired kitsch factor has given movies such as these a new life and cult fan base. Include reunion/interview specials (a lot of actors in these movies are still around!) and original trailers and it will sell like hotcakes. Well, at least, I’ll buy one.

Here’s what I want: I want them to actually work their lazy asses. I want them to design a new cover, include scene selections and I would also like a Servo figure. When I read that interview with the guy in charge, I realized that MST3K was in the wrong hands. https://www.mst3kinfo.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_cry.gif

I think Shout Factory said they were going to do scene selections from this point forward – guess we’ll see. Honestly, I’m happy with any eps that come out, as a completist, but it sounds like from the rumors that this might be a “let’s show ’em what we can do” set, and they did say that they’ve got relationships with Sony and MGM. Can’t wait to find out!

I’ll be at Comic-Con, but I’m guessing that this announcement will be in the form of a press release, meaning you’ll probably see it before I do. They’re not doing another panel, are they?

  30. Austin says:

I couldn’t disagree with you more Pumaman. I love the covers, and actually agree with the lack of arbitrary chapters thing (although chapters for the host segments would make sense).

After not posting any info about XV well over a month after XIV’s release, it’s refreshing to have the next set’s info be known just two weeks after the last release.

#32- Bot Snak, I hate to be “that guy,” but if the comments bother you that much, you can choose to not read them, ya know?

I for one can’t wait to bitch…oh wait, I won’t care what they release. I’d buy it if it was four identical copies of Hamlet.

I’ll cross my fingers for Jack Frost and about 30 others I’d like to see released
About the scene selection issue: I watched LaserBlast earlier and by using the “next” feature on the playstation 2, I could skip chapters even though there wasn’t a scene selection menu screen.
