Out Now from RiffTrax…

Here’s a sample:

Download it here.

In other RiffTrax news: Bob Kostanczuk of the Post Tribune in Gary Indiana had done a short writeup of the upcoming live show.

Also, someone named Chad Dukes interviews Mike for a podcast that you can listen to here.

Neither of these break any new ground, but, hey, it’s a media mention.

Product is actually offline, because we’re waiting on one more file to complete. It should be up by 1pm or so.

I can’t wait! I’ll probably end up buying the commentary and muxing it myself since the Rifftrax audio on the sample seems too loud. Not as bad as Voodoo Man (which was very hard to watch), but I hate struggling to hear the movie audio and then suddenly have a loud Bill shock my eardrum into wetting its earpants.

Wowza … I remember when this came out! It’s so much more idiotic seeming now. Great choice for a riff :)

Will this ever be released on DVD like Voodoo Man and Planet of the Dinosaurs were??

Just a few minute into it but it’s surprisingly unfunny because of the subject matter. I guess I see what Titanic survivors were bitching about a few months ago.

It didn’t seem idiotic when it came out?
I was like 11 years old and it seemed idiotic.

Yeah, the subject matter (Over the top pseudo-acting by John Travolta) is pretty damn depressing, I hear ya.

Just watched the whole movie, and I don’t see the point. It just looks like a cheap made-for-TV movie that was aired to cash in on media attention of “bubble boys.” It’s just a waste of celluloid and I can see why no one bothered to register it with the Library of Congress.

Poor Kevin & Bill, stuck in that bubble. Did they do their commentary from a bubble?

Travolta does that in all his movies. It’s nothing new.

THAT IS NOT A BUBBLE. IT IS CLEARLY A BOX.

Also, we’re supposed to feel sorry for this whiny man-child who is basically stuck in a box? Wow.

Watched it over the weekend, and my first impression is that it’s a worthy addition to the collection.

The first 20 minutes or so are a bit slow, with not enough riffing — there are a number of missed opportunities. But once the crew get into the swing of things, there are a lot of laugh-out-loud moments.

It’s an awful awful movie in just about every way, from the phony, manipulative sentimentality to the fact that the producer and director must have thought that “lifelong isolation” = “borderline retardation” — or at least that’s how Travolta plays the part.

Of course, 70s fashions are always ripe for mockery, as is TV stalwart Robert Reed.

I’ve only been thru it once but my first impression was that Bill gets off the best (and nastiest) lines here, slashing and burning his way thru the movie in fine form.

And for the record, for once I had no problem burning this one and it plays beautifully. Also for a change, the riffers-movie audio mix is just right.

    Four stars!

    BEHOLD……..The Power of Cheese !!!!!

If you see this for no other reason, check it out for the moment (about a third of the way in) when Glynnis O’Connor (in a bikini, no less!! ) walks into John Travolta’s bedroom unannounced and “catches” him in a “Tam O’Shanter”, doing something that NO grown man should EVER be caught doing (even though it’s the ’70’s !!!!!).

Seriously though, even though Mike, Kevin and Bill do a good job with it, this is probably one of the all-time shlockiest, cheesiest, unintentionally hilarious made-for-tv movies of all time, and one that is PLENTY entertaining even without the riffing……..

This was a made-for-TV movie? Good grief!! Looks like something you’d see on Lifetime.

I hope Bat Masterson was talking about the sound mix for Voodoo Man because I thought that was one of the funniest post-MST experiments done by either Rifftrax or CT. Voodoo Man is highly recommended (and I was a sceptic going into it since 40’s movies never fared well on MST).

I remember watching the awful Boy in a Bubble, btw, when it was first aired while talking to girlfriend Sheila on the phone all night. We both thought it pretty silly, but then again we used to meet at the rollerskating rink and hold hands to “Car Wash” so…..(in TV Frank’s voice)Who are we to judge!

I love this film. Reminds me (nostalgically, of course) of those Back to School/Weekend Specials that used to air in the 70s and 80s. The story is actually kind of fun and Travolta/o’Conner aren’t that bad. Hell, this is probably better than your average Love Boat episode.

I saw it originally too. Me and sis. Liked it then too.

Bought this and watched it over the weekend! Totally worth it… I’ve always waited for them to release these on DVD before I bought them, but I had to have this one. Well, worth it, and I will buy it again if it comes out on commercial DVD! EXTREMELY FUNNY and nostalgic if you were born in the 70’s and remember this turd.
