TIME Magazine mention

Our pal and TIME Magazine’s resident MSTie Richard Corliss has a nice piece on RiffTrax and Cinematic Titanic, including some fresh quotes from Joel and Kevin.

It’ll be interesting to see if this sparks a round of other media coverage.

In other media mentions, the terrific “Topless Robot” site recently did a list of its favorite MST3K guest stars.

Quick followup, I see Kevin left a comment on that site, but gave the wrong date for the next live show. It’s Oct. 28th, not 29th.

    Loved Kevin’s comment…”Defer? Like Hell!”

What a great article, both scholarly and filled with obscure riffs. Now Shout Factory can promote MST3K sets with the tagline:
Time.com calls it “…the smartest, coolest thing in all of television.”

I know it isn’t helpful to just say “that was a great article,” but dammit, that was a great article! I’ve read a few over the last few years but that was probably the best – If I was on old MST fan who didn’t know about the new projects I’d be headed straight for the Rifftrax and CT sites right about now.

  6. Fabulous article!!

On a side note, does anyone else just not understand the “you must take sides” concept when it comes to the two riffing groups?! I just can’t grasp how anyone thinks they are “competing” as if they don’t like each other or are at any form of odds with each other. **sigh**

Of course, I also can’t understand why people feel you can’t like Coke if you enjoy Pepsi… idiots.

Or like when people will drink blood but never drink… wine. Crazy, right?

Both sides, Rifftrax and CT, are the ultimate masters of the craft at riffing. The fact that they broke into two groups just means double the laughs
Although Rifftrax far exceeds in quantity and availability than CT, I am still there for any Titan offerings.

I thought it was odd that Joel seems to assume that the RT crew would defer any duplicate projects to CT. Maybe he was kidding and that didn’t translate, but there’s certainly room on my DVD shelf for a double riff like that.

I agree with MSTJon. I’d love to see a riff-off of the same movie by both groups.

@9 & 10 – after reading kevin’s comment, i also thought that would be a really fun idea. have the 2 groups riff on the same film & see the different approaches each one takes.

This was always my idea for a bonus Shout! set. One disc of KTMA segments and the like, one disc of MST:TM bonus materials and then two dics with the same movie riffed by the different camps. Only real fight for rights would be with Gramercy and it’d be an awesome extra set with the “standard” two a year we get now!
