Don’t forget that prior to 701, Mary Jo Pehl debuted as Pearl in episode 607 – Bloodlust.

I know you obviously meant “any and all” performances as Pearl, but I wanted to point that one out anyway because Mary Jo REALLY nailed that character right out of the gate in 607 and it seems to be overlooked all too often.

    Hmmm….

    In no particular order:

-Mike as Eddie Nelson (Time Chasers)
-Mike returning as Hugh Beaumont (Human Duplicators)
    -Mike as Torgo (multiple episodes)
-Mike as Winky (Manhunt in Space)
-Mike as Jack Perkins (Fugitive Alien, Night of the Blood Beast (T-Day Ed.))
-Kevin as Robert “Plant Guy” Plant (Amazing Colossal Man, 1st T-Day segments)
-Kevin as Santa “Krusher Kringle” Claus (Santa Claus)
-Bridget as Nuveena (12 to the Moon)
    -Bridget as Flavia (multiple episodes)
-Paul as Pitch (Santa Clause, Devil Doll)
-Mike & Paul return as the Holoclowns (Attack of the Giant Leeches)
-Mary Jo & Bridget as the Amazon Moms (Hercules)

About the only one I can think of that I didn’t like was Mike as Valeria in “Rocketship X-M”, mainly because it took me years to figure out just who the heck he was supposed to be.

One stands way out above the others: Mike Nelson as J.C. and Frank Conniff as Gooch (or Cooch) in the Sidehackers episode. “I will! I will! I will do it! I will! I will!”

Mike Nelson is particulary good at these one-shot roles. The Robert DeNiro chracter from “This Boys’ Life” (Code Name : Diamond Head), Brad Roberts from the Crash Test Dummies (ibid.), Jeff Smith, the Frugal Gourmet (ibid.), Adam Duritz of Counting Crows (I was a Teenage Werewolf), The Gesture Professor (The Mole People), Mikey (Teenage Strangler), Mikey (The Amazing Transparent Man), Mike-o the Puppet (Devil Doll) and many, many, many others.

I also like Mike and Paul as the Holoclowns, and Mary Jo and Bridget as the Amazons.
I also liked Mike and Kevin as the Irish cops in I think “Indestructable Man”?

    1) Jim Mallon & Mike Nelson as the Great White Hunters in 203:Jungle Goddess
    2) Jim as “Guy at the end of the movie” from 905:The Deadly Bees. A great WTF movie moment spilling over to both the SOL and the Castle
    3) Mike as Hugh Beaumont in 208:Lost Continent
    4) Mike as Glen Manning in 309:The Amazing Colossal Man
    5) Patrick Brantseg as Mike’s coworker in 821:Time Chasers “Dude!”
    6) Peter Rudrud as Todd Gunderson in 910:The Final Sacrifice “Rule Me? Um, No.”
    7) Tim Johnson as Mike Down in 820:Space Mutiny “Should I set up my projector?”
    8) Bridget Jones as Mr B Natural in 701:Night Of The Blood Beast (Turkey Day Version & Bumpers leading up to the episode)

Couldn’t come up with 12 but here are ones I thought were interesting, though not sure if they count as Guest Starring Roles

    1) The caller who I believe started the “More, More, More” callback in many episodes starting with K04:Gamera Vs Barugon
    2) Whoever was the Sad Sack looking guy when Crow and Servo look behind the doors when Cambot tries to trick them into thinking Joel is on the bridge in K17:Time Of The Apes “There’s no one back there, see” “AAAAAHHHH”

Mike as Morrissey is my all time favorite guest starring role on the show, being a Joel fan I think Mike was at his best when doing the guest roles(which seemed to be almost every other show) also, Mike was drop-dead funny as Gamera, Torgo, Hercules, and Mr. Eddie’s father…wait scratch that last one. “Did I mention that I cried?”

Do evil Mike and Crow and good (but pathetic) Dr. F and Frank count from “Last of the Wild Horses”?
They’re kind of themselves — but not.

  15. I liked it when Frank and Trace played alternate dimension versions of themselves as captives on the SOL in 611 Last of the Wild Horses and of course Mike and Crow as evil overlords.

Mary Jo as Jody(?) the Nanite (in the Nanite strike sketch)
Mike as Hugh Beaumont, especially in evil mode
    Bridget as Lisa Loeb
    Bill as Leonardo da Vinci
Paul as Inspector from the Fraternal Order of Mad Science
    Mike as Torgo
    Kevin as Digger Smolken
    Bill as Phantom of Krankor
    Mike as Eddie Nelson
Beez McKeever as Steffi (great comic timing)

Mary Jo as Mrs. Forrester visiting her son. She and Frank are priceless.
    Bill as Krankor, of course.
Paul as “Carl” who not only has been taken over by the Traveler’s Group, also has to give Bobo back his food.
Paul representing the Society of Mad Scientists.
    Peter Rudrud as “Todd”.
Beez McKeever as Steffi, day care provider.
Bridget as Flavia, giving Pearl the news,”At dawn you die!”.

Humphrey died? Dang. That dog seemed so sweet.

Anyway, I liked Beez as the glittery Terror from the Year 5000. I wish I could build a time machine and have her pop out of it! (Sans the ugly make-up of course) I’m sorry, Beez is beeutiful!

I also enjoyed Paul as the Mad Scientist Board Certifier or whatever he was. He was just too dang funny! The little *sniffs* when he talked and the limp. I liked how when Pearl is bashing Brain Guy with the film reel she kind of pauses and looks at him and he’s nodding approvingly. Like “Yes, this is truly mad!” I love it.

Bill as Krankor in both Prince of Space and Neptune men.

Beez as the creature from Terror from the year 5000, she could barely keep from laughing…cute!

Brad Keely as the “little Amish boy” from agent for HARM.

Anything Mike does is pretty much guaranteed to give you a laugh. Although Bill is a very close 2nd.

One of the best that no one has mentioned is Megaweapon. Great dialogue throughout

  29. The Bolem says:

Maybe it’s just TISCWSLATBMUZ being my favorite SciFi episode, but I also have to say Paul as Ortega. He nicely translated the enigmatic nature of the film’s brightest star into the world outside the theater.

Ditto for Jim as the guy at the end of 905.

Other favorites are all the guests frantically rotated in and out in the middle segments of 805 and 806: Finnegan, Hadrian, Adrienne Barbeau, and the metamorph witch (Paul, Kevin, and then Bridget twice, I believe). I’ve still never seen ‘Star Trek: Generations’, so I don’t know if something’s lacking in Paul’s performance, but they each crammed a lot into their manically-paced part.

Also, does the sleazy voice-over who tries to seduce Magic Voice in ‘The Atomic Brain’ count as a guest star? He seemed to show up of his own volition, unlike other instances where parts of the movie were replayed by the ‘bots (ex: Godzilla vs. Megalon, MANOS, Riding With Death, and Track of the Moon Beast). If so, he might actually be my favorite of all time, because he was an instance of the movie literally interacting with the SOL.

I’ve mostly seen only the CC eps released by Rhino, so I’ve missed a lot of Mike’s best performances. That’s why my list seems so SciFi biased.

Mike as Colonel Glen Manning in episodes 309 and 318 was pretty fantastic.

    Other than that,
Mike as Morrissey (Irish blood my @$$) in “City Limits”
Mike as Winky in “Manhunt in Space”
Mike and Bridget as the creepy Gamera “kids” in “Gamera vs. Zigra”
Mike as Michael Feinstein in “Gamera vs. Guiron”
Mike, Bridget and Paul as the Space Children in “Parts: The Clonus Horror”
Jef Maynard (?) as Timmy in “Fire Maidens from Outer Space”

I think maybe you meant the Classic Trek episode Shore Leave, as that was the one that had Finnegan (at least I don’t recall him being in Generations). Finnegan also made an appearance in the Star Trek comic book series published by DC back in the Eighties.

One of my favorites was Paul (I think) as the snooty Observer who goes up to the SoL and does a running commentary on everyone until they decide to beat him up.
Peanut was also a funny role, especially what happens to him after Ape World is blown up.
Bridget is, of course, great wherever she appears.

There’s no comparison between the one-shot characters Mike played and all the others – some of the other Brains could do the one-shot characters well (especially Bridget), but Mike was the King. The show really lost that value he brought as a pinch-hitter when he moved over to host.

Sampo, you covered 11 out of 12 spots I was planning putting on this list! I would exclude Mary Jo’s Jan in the Pan appearances and replace them with Mike’s Glen Manning appearances (shows 309 & 319). Nothing against Mary Jo, mind you, I just thought Mike planning a giant-sized Manning was alittle funnier. How can you resist laughing at a guy chomping on an entire cow?

    To lpydmblb
I only have Younger Than Yesterday and Turn! Turn! Turn! currently.

I try to get stuff like the Byrds or Nilsson only on vinyl because it’s cheaper and cooler. But sometimes I can’t find a decent copy of random albums like Sweetheart of the Rodeo easily. My old roommate had Sweetheart of the Rodeo, I don’t have anything against it, I just don’t have it. (Yet.)

In other news, I like MST3K.

I think this qualifies. I liked when Mary Jo and Bill sang those country tunes in episode 804 The Deadly Mantis. Mike was falling asleep at the wheel, and to keep awake he opted to listen to an intergalatic radio station. As Mike is turning the dial to find a station he wants, Bill and MJ sing some VERY funny country music bits. Hilarious!

Thanks for the gentle correction, Sitting Duck. Not sure where I got the idea that it was from Generations, but most of my Trek knowledge is second-hand. Nothing against Star Trek, but as a Transfan I needs me space epics a tad more misanthropic, with humans realizing that in the cosmic scheme of things, we’re just a bunch of dumb bugs who’re lucky we haven’t already been skooshed by beings that have no interest in any alliances with us.

So yeah, add the omnipotent space children to my list. (No, I’ve never seen the Trek episode they’re based on either). They were a fun trip while they lasted.

And does the director of Hobgoblins count as a guest, or a prop? We never did see anything but his outline…
