Still haven’t done Favorite Bill Moments. There’s Crow, but that could be either Trace or Bill; still no stand alone Bill. (Unless Sampo just forgot to list it, but I don’t recall a Bill one).

How about doing something involving The Film Crew. I know
there’s only four (I have them all) but they are interesting
    especially the later Rue McClanahan
Golden Girls one (Hollywood After Dark).

    @2

Do you have a favorite Brain Guy moment? That would count as a Bill moment. Also, I don’t remember my first time with MST3K :( I think it was “The Amazing Colossal Man”. My first Mike Nelson moment was the Movie. And I didn’t know about Mike until I started getting Satellite News in the mail. I didn’t have Comedy Central then.

How bout “Your favorite decade of movies”? I always liked movies set during the 70’s just for all the hate Mike would inevitably get such as the great episode “Touch of Satan”.

  8. Thanks for once again updating this list, it’s a very helpful resource for us regular users. Until Sampo adds this to Ward-E (with links to each discussion, I presume) one can enter these titles into the “Search” field to find the original threads.

I am honored to have had a few of my suggestions discussed here (Roger Corman, Favorite MST web sites, Ideas for future sets, Overrated/Underated episodes) and to have contributed comments to many more. But I admit that I have not offered any new topics recently. Credit to everyone here who still cares about this show.

    How about “Fantasy Reunion Scenario”

How would you script a MST3K “Movie of the Week” if you could get everyone back together For example: Have Pearl find and release Dr F, Frank and Erhardt from a Phantom Zone like prison where they join up with Bobo and Brain Guy. They then recapture their old experiments Joel, Mike and the bots and then….well you get the idea.

I guess this is like Fan Fic! What do you think, sirs?

How about a favorite Paul Chaplin moment?

  11. Manny Sanguillen says:

Here’s stuff we aint done and should –

Top 5 or 10 favorite episodes (or even 25, so based on how many we have seen – if you’ve seen them all, feel free to rank every one of them.)

This would best be broken down into two different discussions by having a top 5 or 10 Joel era episodes and a top 5 or 10 Mike era episodes.

This works good because it splits the show’s run pretty close to the middle.

It could even be done in three discussions wih the final one being an overall ranking combining the two hosts.

This is something that should be done yearly, because we always are changing. I know that my own top 10 shows right now aren’t the same as they were a year ago.

Also, I think if people want to rank the other two entities – Rifftrax/Film Crew and Cinematic Titanic, we can do another thread for those. Maybe more of a top 5 though since there arent as many episodes to rank (especially for CT).
Though I think we could do a whole thread on the rifftrax shorts alone, being that there is over a hundred now.

A favorite Brain Guy discussion would be interesting.
I can immediately come up with 5-6 right away.

And how about most disturbing non-movie bit
(for starters Crow’s and Brain Guy’s dances).

    #6 Why can’t we?

But anyways, I don’t see “Invention Exchange inventions that were actually GOOD ideas” on the list. I vote for the Hobby Hogs. I go to craft festivals every year and figure that SOMEONE would have thought to actually start making these for kids. Well, I guess if you want something done right…

  15. Raptorial Talon says:

Maybe I’ll submit this formally someday, but what about “Your Ideal Vision of MST3k?” If you could choose the perfect manifestation of the show’s run, what would it be?

For me, trying not to get too extravagant and sticking close-ish to what actually happened, it would be twelve seasons, each with 24 episodes, split exactly between Joel and Mike at 144 episodes each. TV’s Frank would be there from Season 2 through Season 8, Dr. Forrester/Trace’s Crow would be there up through Season 9, Bill’s Crow and the whole Sci-fi-era premise would start with Season 10, etc. I think you get the idea.

I would have them pick whatever movies seem suitable. I don’t need to insist on specific titles.

Assuming 90 minutes each, that’s 432 hours of MST3k. You could have a two-and-a-half-week-straight marathon.

  16. Ben says:

Poring over the list it looks like everyone in the cast/writing staff got a “favorite moments” and since Bill Corbett/Brain Guy/Crow 2.0 was mentioned that should be about it. WAITAMINUTE! I didn’t spy “favorite MIKE moments” in that list… I think that might bear looking into.

  17. Tim_Servo says:

How about something along the lines of “SIX DEGREES OF MST3K”. I am constantly seeing familiar faces in real, actual movies of actors that appear in movies I see on MST3K.
Today I watched the 1956 serious movie “JULIUS Caeser” (starring Marlin Brando and James Mason etc) and one of the (Roman Senator type) guys was the sort of German/Nazi scientist from “LOST CONTINENT”.(A Direct link from MST to Marlon Brando,or vice versa)

It would be fun to track the familiar ,yet sort of unknown, faces to more famous and mainstream movies.
EXAMPLE:Richard Kiel; name “real” actors and mainstream movies the star of EEGAGH etc. appeared with. I think it would be a real good challenge and I think we could tie almost anyone in films today who is “important” to a MST performer,(writer director and so on for SERIOUS movie fans!)and movie!
    THINK ABOUT IT! :)

    Sorry Follow up:

    Another example: In today’s “Notable Deaths”;
Guy Doleman: a Direct link to Sean Connery and James Bond (Thunderball) and The TV show “The Prisoner” (just think hard of the obscure riffs about that show) (Doleman was the very first “Number Two” to appear on that show)
Points Awarded for the most precise and obscure links!

  23. Mr. B(ob) says:

I sent in a list of suggestions the day this topic was posted. Here’s what was on my list:

    – Favorite costume worn by one of the robot pals in an episode. My favorite costume on a robot is the monkey mask Tom Servo is wearing during the Sandy Frank song. It makes me laugh every time I see it, every single time!
    – Favorite Monty Python references in an episode of MST3K. There are tons of them. Example: “I’m not dead, I’m getting better.” during Teenagers From Outer Space
    – Favorite Lord of the Rings references in an episode. Again, there are a lot of these over the years. Example, Torgo becomes Torgo the White as well as plenty of riffs about LotR during the actual movies in many episodes.
    – Favorite references to MST3K in other shows. Some fun examples: MST3K is on the TV in Moe’s Tavern during the Who Shot Mr. Burns? episode of The Simpsons and there is Torgos Executive Powder in Futurama.
    – Prettiest girl or nicest looking character in a MSTed movie. Or, the ugliest most physically disgusting or repulsive character (with or without a lot of makeup) in a MSTed movie.
    – Guilty pleasure joke or episode, i.e., the joke or episode you felt was the weakest that still made you laugh.

How about Movie They Should’ve Done Instead Of________?

  25. Troy Thomas says:

I have an idea for one: favorite Shout! Factory DVD menu. My choice would be “The Crawling Eye,” probably because I love the silly visuals mixed with the booming, dramatic score from the movie. A runner-up would be “Robot Monster.” I love that conversation the bots have that’s taken from riffs in the episode.

  26. Mr. B(ob) says:

    Other topic suggestions:
    – Was there ever an episode you couldn’t watch all the way through even once because the movie was too bad, annoying, boring or upsetting to see all the way through? In other words, you either fell asleep or deliberately turned it off or walked out of the room on it while it was still playing and never watched it again, ever.
    – Favorite episode that other fans don’t seem to like in large numbers? Or, your least favorite episode that gets a mostly positive response on fan sites like this one.

I’d like to see one on alternate ideas for stingers. There have been a number of movies where I’ve thought “That would have been such a good stinger!” and I’m sure others have done the same.

  29. Dan in WI says:

What about a discussion thread on who’s better: Joel or Mike? Er… on second thought there is something in the back of my mind which says this may not be a good idea, though I can’t quite put my finger on why exactly. :)
