Where You’re Seeing RiffTrax Live

I will be at the Cinemark, in Moosic, Pa, on Montage Mountain just outside Scranton. I’ll probably be in the front row (not including the horrible seats right up next to the screen) wearing a Satellite News T-shirt. If ya see me, say hi!

Erhardt will be at the AMC Studio 30 in Olathe, KS. If you see him, feel free to say “Oh, hai, Erhardt” in your best “The Room” voice.

@ #33: I feel your pain. We hardly go to the movies any longer. I think the Harry Potter movie is the only one we’ve seen all year so far. The Rifftrax Live shows are some of the few for which we brave movie theaters just to still get out and do something special once in a while.

As far as actual movie releases I think we’re down to only about 2 or 3 per year these days at most. Most newer movies are terrible, ticket prices are high, driving to the theater is now costly, the theaters are often dirty from all the food they sell that gets spilled in them, and the audiences as you point out can make the experience of watching the mostly poorly made films even worse.

Better to stay home and watch something good on DVD. Last year I bought a DVD of an old favorite, The Maltese Falcon. The dialogue “pops” every moment of the film. We were laughing so much of the time at the amazing witty and sarcastic comments that punctuate the film. They don’t write, direct or act in them like that any more that’s for sure.

Regal Cinema Magnolia Place 16 in lovely Coral Springs, FL. I’m driving up to relocate to Baltimore on Thursday, and I wanted to leave FL on a high note.

I’ve been stocking up on Rifftrax shorts to listen to while I’m driving; it’s gotten me really psyched for tonight.

Sometime I’ll have to take the train down to NYC and catch one of these in Union Square instead of driving to the godforsaken wasteland that is NJ. Considering the price of gas these days, it’s pretty much a toss up.

Do I sound bitter? Sorry. I helped the in-laws move to Toms River this past weekend. What’s even more interesting than driving through Jersey? Driving a U-HAUL through Jersey. :teeth:

If you’re new to Rifftrax Live, be sure to get to the theater at least 20-30 minutes early to see the pre-show jokes. Hilarious stuff and I hope they are included on all the Rifftrax Live DVD releases from now on.

Union Square Theater in New York, NY. The Chelsea theater on 23rd St. used to also show Rifftrax Live (went there for “Reefer Madness” and “House on Haunted Hill”) but now that secondary Manhattan venue has moved to the Clearview at 400 East 62nd St. I saw “Super” at that venue and it was depressing because the cineplex is just a series of elevators going up/down leading up to (mostly) empty theaters… no thanks. Just to make sure I wouldn’t be left out though I bought my ticket at Union Square during lunch. 8-)

My brother and I are going to the Cinemark in Mesa, AZ at the Mesa Riverview Plaza, or some such thing. I think there’s going to be another theater or two showing it this time in the Valley. We were full up last time so I’m glad more theaters are showing the event. Hope they all fill up!
