Weekend Discussion Thread: The Party in a MSTed Movie You’d Most Like to Be Invited to

Well the holidays are coming up next week and that means lots of parties. Alert reader “mhallack” asks:

Has anyone has suggested their favorite film dance party? There seems to have been a ton of films on MST that featured parties.
My favorite has to be the mid-afternoon dance at the high school for the school teachers in “The Creeping Terror.” Lame big band music performed by a drummer and piano player.

I’m going to expand it a bit and ask: What party in a MSTed movie, with dancing or not, do you wish you’d been invited to?

I’m gonna go with that swingin’ boat party in “Catalina Caper.” Maybe I could get Little Richard’s autograph before he’s hustled out the back door.

What’s your pick?

Its not necessarily a movie, but Dr. F and TV’s Frank’s Thanksgiving parties would’ve been a blast! Just watching Jack Perkins getting drunk as he hit on Mr. B would have made the trip worth it! And then Pitch might start teleporting around the room… anything could happen!

Of course, there’s always the Rock-n-Roll Martian party for kids of all ages!

No contest, “Girl In Gold Boots!” Bongo music (actual GOOD music in an MST3K film), smoking ham rolls, Kitty Carlisle reading “Howl,” those people really knew what the 60’s were all about!

I almost forgot about the slow motion dancing by the office temps getting down in the club at the beginning of Zombie Nightmare. (That’s either the US 10 years ago or Canada today!!)

Or how about attending the Failure Celebration dance from The Day the Earth Froze?

But wait a sec! what about the awesome rehearsal party for Meg and Tom (poor Tom) in Tormented? There’s champagne cocktails, hors doeuvres, Tom’s special blend of blandly mediocre jazz piano and the kick of watching the chump slowly driven insane by the vindictive ghost of his former lover, Vi. Now there’s a chick that can really hold a grudge!

I actually would go to that pool party in Eegah! – If only to say “Tequila.” in the breaks in the music.
That, and I would love to saunter off to an all-meat buffet.

Failing that – Manos. Duck Duck Goose with Torgo, and I’m sure the Master’s wives can get down… ;D

The parties in Teenage Strangler were pretty cool. The first one has Yipe Stripes being sung by a gypsy band, and the girl singer walking on your breakfast, then the party at the end seemed pretty festive, just ignore the fact that a few girls were just murdered, and don’t talk to the guy with the bandaged head. And don’t start any trouble or the cook will throw you out.

Ditto the night jump part in Skydivers. Great music. Weird nighttime outdoor location. Booze. Murder. Intrigue. Amazons. Who doesn’t want to be at that party? …aside from the murder victim.
