It’s good to see that they have added another show to the roster but it would still be nice to get some new DVD’s.
I simply could not leave your site prior to suggesting that I extremely loved the standard info an individual supply for your visitors? Is gonna be again steadily to investigate cross-check new posts
I never thought about it before, but Lizbeth has a point there. Is gonna be again steadily to investigate cross-check new posts?
Let’s face it. That Time Tube photo will continue turning up as long as Cinematic Titanic is around.
Maybe I just don’t get it, but what’s wrong with the picture? It’s a Cinematic Titanic photo that shows all the performers. What’s the problem? Is it because they’ve apparently abandoned the “premise” in favor of just doing live stuff? Even if so, I still can’t see what “better” there is to know.
Regarding the Time Tube photo, there are two problems with it:
1. It’s confusing for people who aren’t obsessed like us. Not only have they long since dropped that premise, but none of their advertising or press makes any mention of their being any premise at all besides “they riff bad movies.” Which, as Joel has stated, they figured out pretty quickly and wish they’d never bothered with the whole nanotated disc nonsense in the first place.
B. The Titans all look too serious in their matching suits. (But at least Trace is trying.) If I weren’t familiar with the concept, the Time Tube photo wouldn’t make me think “those guys look funny.”
That’s what I figured. I still don’t have a problem with it. It’s too bad if they do. The “nanotaded disc” stuff is what made Cinematic Titanic more like MST3K. Without it, as you state, it’s just “they riff bad movies”. Not nearly as creative or fun.
No, Sharktopus, I don’t care how much Lizbeth extremely loved the standard info an individual supply, I will never ever steadily to investigate cross-check new posts! Never!
You’re such an old fuddy duddy, Sampo.
@ Rhindle the Red: While I love the “mythology” – for lack of a more appropriate word – behind MST3k as much as anybody here, I think it’s pretty clear that Joel and company went into Cinematic Titanic focused solely on getting back to movie riffing, and the time tube premise was the barest of skeletons to hang it on. I recall reading some interview wherein Joel confessed to not giving it much thought initially, figuring that that they would flesh out the backstory over time, then quickly lost interest in instead. (Probably around the same time they realized that performing live was more rewarding than recording in-stuido.) I imagine that, for the Titans, seeing that time tube photo is sort of like a successful musician hearing a demo of old song he wrote in high school.
On the other hand, I do love Trace running away at the mention of Santa Claus Conquers The Martians, then getting dragged back in…
I liked the back story of the studio shows, but I understand why they decided to do live DVDs instead. I just wish they’d attempted some closure to the Studio DVD premise before abandoning it altogether like it didn’t happen.
I’m sure everyone knows by now that RATTLERS will be available on dvd the 17th of this month. For those attending their show on the 5th,they’ll be selling a limited supply of Rattlers before its release date..Oh Happy day!! :-)) :-)) :-)) :inlove: :inlove:
I always thought the “time tube” thing was because the CT gang thought the audience would like to have that connection to the past, then realized it was just better business sense to do live shows, recording them to sell. I will say that I didn’t matter to me premise or not, it was the riffing that I was so happy to have back. I am glad none of the MST3K gang tries to have a premise for their riffing. MST3K had a premise and it worked there. With CT and, if I may say so, The Film Crew, the premise was never as good as the actual riffing.
I do enjoy the live CT… a lot.
Bad Film
I always liked Mystery Science Theater since I discovered it by accident. It took me a bit to discovery what was going on but it is now one of my favorite shows. I am going to G-Fest this weekend, the Godzilla connection for all Japanese monsters. I asked if some of the crew from mystery science theater would be there but they don’t think that mst3k has respect for the Japanese monster movies. I make very low budget stop motion movies and would like you to see the last part of a film I did. Here is a link, enjoy.
