Isn’t Brainiac a Superman villain?
Hooray! Really, MST3K should have done this one years ago but better late than never. It’s a movie that’s hilarious without commentary but the riffing is quite good. Good print–obviously the Casanegra print because it has a couple of scenes cut back into the K Gordon Murray edit. There’s a whole bunch of K. Gordon Murray horror titles to chose from but I don’t know where they are going to get them because Casanegra went under after releasing only a small handful. The Vampire’s Coffin might be a good choice. The Curse of the Crying Woman is my favorite but it’s actually a pretty good movie and probably not the best choice for riffing.
Your knowledge of this movie terrifies me, CM.
What the …? This thing looks crazy but in a good way.
@1, yes it is- i had the action figure in the 80’s twas a robot of some sort i believe
No, this is the OTHER Braniac. The one that’s a steelworker by day, and a dancer by night…I think.
Yes, yes, yes! I watched this movie unriffed, it’s one toxic enchilada of badness! One of the Churubusco-Azteca line of horror flicks, I gues this movie is also from the creators of the Aztec Mummy trilogy. I hope they riff another of Sam…er…I mean El Santo movies, they have like fifty to pick, and I think some of them are in the public domain. Or they can riff La Nave de los Monstruos, Ship of Monsters. Or that Little Red Riding Hood movie in which the Human Robot makes an stellar, yet brief appearance. There is so much Mexican cheese!
I started the dvd .iso image downloading as I was leaving for work. Can’t wait to get back home and watch it. I SO love it when they riff these older, crazy-ass type of movies. The sample clip alone was enough to convince me that this one is gonna be guaranteed GOLD, and potentially even more insane than “Mesa Of Lost Women” (if that’s possible). Of course, it also had me wondering to myself…”WTF were they smoking…and where can I find some?”
@7 Neptune Man…What about the Wrestling Women movies? http://www.eccentric-cinema.com/cult_movies/doctor_doom_aztec_mummy.htm http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058304/
Celebrated Mythologist William Campbell first reintroduced us to the archetype of the fork-tongued wizard that fell from the comet to dine on the brains of drink-sotted harlots.
You have no idea, Casey. No. Idea.
This was one of Frank Zappa’s favourite movies, according to what I’ve read.
Awesome. I’ve wanted to see this movie for years and now I get to for the first time with the riffmeisters.
This movie fits into the previous weeks discussion about shows who’s premise you have to swallow down hard…..
Really creepy this one….
@7 This movie would have been so much more awesome with El Santo as the hero. Go El Santo, Go El Santo, Go El Santo, gooooooooo!!!!
#9: Better than Racket Girls! Another great movie to riff on is Santo and Blue Demon against the Mummies of Guanajuato.
Wow, this movie is… it’s just that… well, I mean it just so… not many movies make Manos look competent.

I think I’ve been rattled into buying this new CT release. :-)
I went through the annoying and complicated sign in process of this website that included sending a $50 check for “deposit” just to make this comment.
About time for this one.
there… that was worth it.
Purchased and watched. Yep, brought back many memories of Sampson and so many other Mexican films. Great stuff.
#20 — WTF?
You’re joking, I understand, but I guess I don’t get the joke. Are you saying there are lots of websites out there that make it hard to comment on threads? (Obviously this isn’t one of them, but I guess something like the WSJ site might be something of that nature). I just don’t understand how it all fits in here.
And #19 — what’s that all about? PLEASE don’t tell me we are getting another Joel v. Mike war going on *this* site. Your comment might belong in the other CT thread, but really has no place here.
(Oh, and to actually be on point on this topic — I bought Braniac and my wife and I will be watching tonight, as part of our July 4th traditional MST3K celebration of getting drunk and having a feast while enjoying quality riffing. Looks to be a real stinker, so, a good time will be had by all)
@Mike Kelley: he posted a similar comment under another name on a thread about CT. The fact that both comments were obviously written by the same person even though he used different names suggests a troll. I recommend ignoring.
Dear Sam or Ralph or whatever your name is… go back to Nilbog
Oh, okay — I didn’t read the CT thread so I must have missed that. Still, odd that someone would troll an “ad” for these things (is he working on commission? ).
We watched last night and it was hilarious, as I suspected (of course, being rather drunk always makes things seem funnier, I’ve found :>). That was one weird mamma-jamma movie (I particularly liked the whole “brains on a dish” aspect of the plot — ah, a little Chianti and some fava beans and you really have a whole meal). At one point I could have sworn the movie stopped being dubbed but I must have been totally blotto then.
@22, I was being a silly stupid head.
*crosses joke off list of jokes that worked*
Is anyone else kind of disappointed that .divx (or other small) file options aren’t being offered for some of the recent releases? The .mpgs are so huge by comparison . . . I like storing shorts and VOD’s on some flash drives so I can have some mobile entertainment even if I’m using a friend’s computer, and I won’t be able to store as many of them on a single drive with only the “high-quality” options.
Maybe I’m missing an alternative . . . any suggestions?
@Mike Kelley – Oops, should clarify. He posted a Rifftrax promo on the CT thread. Not a CT promo on a CT thread. He was trolling on both threads under different names.
For those new people: there’s no war/dislike between CT and RT as they have their own things going on, but it’s rude to post Rifftrax promo stuff on a post about Cinematic Titanic and vice versa.
@26 – We brought DivX back a while ago.
Cool. It seemed ambiguous to me based on several of my latest downloads. Any chance that some of the ones formerly released with no divx option will receive it in the future? (I don’t really need “Curse of Bigfoot” taking up ~4 times as much room as anything else . . .) Just wondering.
Thanks!
