A nice positive review. Believe it or not, I’m still waiting for my Vol. 25 to arrive in the mail.

    C’mon US Postal Service!

I received my copy from Shout last night. A little disappointed they didnt make original cover art for the Commander Cody bonus disc or the second part of the final chapter unriffed.

I did not know there was a bonus DVD when you ordered from Shout! If anyone has an extra they’d sell me, I’d be willing to fork out.

    @ #1 and #2:

Still waiting on my copy of XXV as well. I contacted Shout today, as my status tracker at their website just said “sent to warehouse,” and heard back about an hour ago. They said that the warehouse did not have enough stock to meet pre-order demand, and now that problem is solved, they have what they need, and orders are being put together. They told me to check tomorrow, or Monday at the latest, and it should be out in the mail and have a tracking number and all that.

    The anticipation is killing me…..

According to tracking, my set is in town…not at my HOUSE, but at the post office downtown. It’s closed now, of course, but I still am thinking of heading down there and walking around the block just to be close…

9:15PM Minnesota time. “Sent to WMG Warehouse”. What’s keeping it? Did martians kidnap Santa? Did a devil convince three Mexican children to hack the pre-orders? Is some kid magically holding him in his house? Is he stuck in the sand? If I don’t have it by Christmas I’ll be suspecting one of these.

It looks like we’re all in the same boat. Mine too said the warehouse thing.

Thanks @6 I had not received that news yet. I preordered Oct. 10. I actually thought I might get mine early.

The last time I ordered from Shout! I received my Vol. XXII on the Saturday before the release date. Go figure.

@11, the same thing happened to me. I had it well before the release date for some reason. It was an unexpected surprise!

I was curious as to how they’d handle the title change of Operation Double 007 to Operation Kid Brother. I wondered if they’d have to make a change of the screen when the movie title showed, or just how they’d handle that problem.

I called up my fan copy of Operation Double 007 on the TV, and put the official copy of Operation Kid Brother in the computer and started them both up, curious to see what would change and where, with anticipation growing as I got to the movie title screen.

It never occurred to me that it would be a packaging thing only. The movie was the same. The packaging called it Operation Kid Brother, with the notes on the back of that particular DVD mentioning there was another title of the film:

Operation Kid Brother is also known by another title that, for certain reasons, will go unnamed…

Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.

Got mine already through the USPS yesterday! No snark, the Postal
System has always worked well for me. I shudder at the increased
cost and poorer service if misguided efforts to privatize it succeed.
Now you can even use the USPS as an ATM (like at many supermarkets).

I got lucky as well, having had mine for several days already. Ordered it along with several of the singles that were on sale. I immediately popped in the Cody disc which has an interesting intro by Josh. Alas, it’s pretty hard to get through the entire 8.5 episodes in one sitting.

I got mine yesterday via UPS (ordered from Amazon) and I’m loving it. I’ve ordered from Shout! Factory before, and don’t have a problem with them (except maybe shipping costs, but that’s always a concern). I love that they’re bundling the complete Commando Cody segments into one DVD, though. They show the love everytime to the MST3K fans.

As for the set, I’ve already gone through the first 3 movies, and am going to hit Revenge of the Creature later. My views on the eps are:

Robot Holocaust – I found this one to be exceedingly dull. Laughs came few and far between for me. I do give the movie points for being set in a postapocalyptic world, yet there’s NYC in the background.

Operation Kid Brother – Loved this ep. As a Bond fanatic, this one ranks high on my list of best eps ever. I’d love to know how this movie came to be made. And released by UA no less.

Kitten With A Whip – I love it when MST3K ends up doing movies outside their usual sci-fi domain, particularly the crime movies. Kitten With A Whip is pure, unadulterated pulp trash, and I love it. John Forsythe’s aggressive blandness combined with Ann-Margret’s OTT scene chewing makes this one a favourite of mine.

Thanks again have to go to Shout! Factory for going the extra mile for the fans.

It is with sadness that I report that Shout! Factory has made a major mess of shipping their MST3K Volume XXV pre-orders. I ordered mine back in September and it still has not shipped. After writing to them multiple times they have admitted that they simply did not have enough in their warehouse to fill all their pre-orders. How is this possible? The whole point of pre-orders is that it gives the seller an idea of the minimum number of copies they need to print! How could they have printed less than they needed to fill those orders? Someone screwed up BIG time. I am not pleased, I could have ordered from Amazon and gotten free shipping. Instead, I ordered from Shout! and paid $7.99 for shipping and got terrible service. If I’m lucky they’ll ship it by early next week. :(

It’s a shame about Shout! Factory orders. Hopefully they
will fix it in the future.

I usually order mine from a book store chain
or electronics/computer stores (although it costs more then Shout! Factory).

The issue with Shout shipping seems like an anomaly to me. The last time I ordered the set from them (to get the stress ball) it arrived a few days before the official release date.

  22. jb says:

#4: somewhere I got the impression that this set would include the last half of the last part, after the film breaks. I guess I was wrong.

On another note, why couldn’t these have been compiled onto a disc with another episode? Or at least the one short onto the Robot Holocaust disc, thus releasing all of them? I just dont see the need for the extra disc compiling them all when 7 of them were already released.

Does this also mean that The Slime People is VERY unlikely to be released? Otherwise, it would make the bonus disc a complete double dip.

At times it does seem like Shout! does not get the popularity of this show.
They do a great job of putting together these box set, even the ones with weak movies have great features that make them worth the price. However, as said above, how do oyu not have enough for your “pre-orders” ??

As for the great review by “Judge Asperschlager,” the only thing I will disagree with him on is “Revenge.” I did not think this was a very good episode (though still worth having and watching). It was a shaky return of the series. It looked like the guys still had to get some of the off season kinks out. The review, however, was very informative.

Mine is on my Christmas list so I won’t get it until Santa arrives.

I’d just like the good folks at Shout! to know how much I appreciate the work they do keeping these sets coming. I know the frustration of anticipating the arrival of a new set, but I can be patient about it too. I remember the days when Rhino was re-releasing all the vhs titles and I wondered if that was it, that maybe we wouldn’t get any new episodes properly released. Shout! has been extremely reliable and consistent about getting new sets (with some pretty amazing, supposedly impossible titles) out 3-4 times a year! Hopefully their shipping issues will get better, but I can wait a little longer if I have to. Thanks again!

I’ve ordered a couple of times from Shout! Factory, and I don’t think I had the same experience twice. One time they ended up double shipping the set to me, which required me to contact them to send the extra set back.

The first time I ordered from them they double-shipped mine too! Guess they were having problems. This time I had preordered the very first day, but am still showing “warehouse” in my status. Ah, well. I will wait for the bonus disc.

  27. Weird that some people are still waiting after pre-ordering months ago. I pre-ordered only about a week before release and got it on the day itself. (Maybe they went alphabetically or something.)

Unfortunately, the box was crushed by the simple padded envelope used to mail it. (If I have one complaint about Shout!’s packaging, it’s the thin cardboard boxed. Much preferred the thicker ones from Rhino. I’m waiting to hear back from them before I open it. (I’m hoping they can just ship out another box.)

Ordered mine on 11/1… still waiting with the Sent to Warehouse as status. Grrr. Even though I know the answer from them by the comments here, I am still tempted to send a complaint.

Mine arrived yesterday, and, I watched all four. The only problem is with the last few minutes of Kitten with a whip the video is a bit wigged out, like, The Dead Talk Back from Rhino.

Oh well, still a great improvement over my fan copy, and copies.

Just sent in my complaint email. Preordered this back in September and this is my first time ordering from the directly. Never had this issue with Amazon. Love that Shout loves the show and the fans, but serious 2nd thoughts about ordering direct again.

“…Monday at the latest…” It’s Monday, the website still says “sent to warehouse”. I wonder if I post-ordered would it have got here by now? I ordered on 9/11. So, did they look at the number of pre-orders and say, well, there are 5000 pre-orders, 500 copies should cover that, right? I just feel very disappointed in Shout Factory this time around. I hope they take this incident into account should they ever do a special offer again.

Aren’t we being a little hard on Shout! Factory without know their side of the story? For all we know at this point, they placed the proper order and something went wrong on the manufacturer’s side. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t recall seeing an actual reason yet. I just think there is a bit too much hate in this thread for the company which has done far, far more good than bad in preserving our favorite cowtown puppet show. Nobody bats anywhere close to 1.000. I for one will take an occasional mistep like this over the Rhino years any day.

  36. The Aggiellite of Love says:

Well, I won’t. Sorry. It’s not that there was a misstep, but that Shout! didn’t even bother to send an e-mail explaining the situation. I’m still waiting without any word whatsoever, other than a standard e-mail finally sent 12/11 (7 days after the release date) that claims all of the following:

    a) my order has been paid (according to the subject line of the e-mail);
    b) that payment has failed (within the e-mail itself); and
    c) that the order has shipped (according to their website)

I’m willing to cut people some slack, but it takes a real concerted effort to screw up that badly at that many levels. Unfortunately, that seems to be the norm with customer service anymore.

Well, mine is on its way, but I still haven’t received it. Not impressed at all with Shout! Factory’s responses. Didn’t even get a “Sorry about the delay.” Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired — I’ll probably just order through Amazon from now on.

I’m checking out the Cody disc, and it’s not at all boring watching them all in a row. In fact, it kind of feels like Shout! whittled together a “missing” episode from Season 1. I like it very much!
