Going to the Saturday evening show with a friend, I paid $50 for the pre game meet and greet. Hopefully I’ll see some of you all there. I’ll be the bland white guy with brown hair, brown eyes, glasses and brown shoes…

The thought occurred to me a couple days ago this would normally be the season that Cinematic Titanic tours heavily. Now we have this instead. I wonder if Frank’s new gig is getting in the way.

@2 I was wondering the same thing. Are we seeing the end of CT? They sure do go a long time between DVD releases these days.

Frank’s gig is not getting in the way. I am available to do CT gigs whenever they come up. For whatever reasons, we just haven’t been getting many bookings. We usually sell very well at the venues we play so the whole thing is a pit perplexing to us.

Frank, is there anything we can do besides nag our local theaters to book you guys? There is a theater here in Boise that I think you guys would do great in, the Trailer Park Boys even packed the place and they are a Canadian TV show. I have stopped by the theater a few times to tell them to book you, left messages etc. but never get much of a response.

The problem is that Cinematic Titanic is too high-concept to describe. It’s difficult to explain to bookers who aren’t familiar with movie-riffing. They need a brief, catchy description like “Pink Floyd cover band” or “ventriloquist with vaguely racist puppets.”

You’ve never heard of Cinematic Titanic? He’s a pop singer who’s beloved by tween girls worldwide. You’d sell out in minutes!

Sadly I missed CT when they were in Seattle at the King Cat Theater, back in 2009, I think. From what I hear, they did quite well there. Sadly, the King Cat has closed and is being torn down so Amazon.com can build their new HQ. The Moore Theater in Seattle might be a good venue for CT. I saw Eric Idle & John Cleese of Monty Python at the Moore and both shows had good turnouts. I think CT would fill the house there. I’m really not sure how they could be convinced to book CT though. I’ll certainly phone and drop them an email. Perhaps other Seattle MST3K fans could do the same thing?

David, you missed a great show in Seattle 2009, I made the trip and it was fantastic. Sorry to hear about the King Cat, I will always have great memories of that place thanks to CT and it was located right next to a decent and cheap hotel for bonus points. Hopefully CT will return to the area soon!

My usual description of the Cinematic Titanic experience to the uninitiated is that it is like having a feature-length, comedy commentary to a really cheesy movie performed live in front of you at a theater…and it’s freakin’ hilarious.

Back to Philly so soon after the Colonial show(s)? Even someone like me who goes to almost every Philly/Jersey show featuring CT or Joel, I think I can safely skip this one. I’m glad more people will get to see this Joel show, it is great fun.

I arrive home after seeing Joel’s VIP show last night. Sampo, will you be putting up a “how was the show?” thread?

That’s odd that CT isn’t booking as well as before. I guess I’ll have to harass some nearby theaters. I sent a letter to the Tennessee Theater a while back, but I think it might be time to send another (even though it might not mean much coming from the same person). I also might try some in Nashville and Atlanta.

I wonder if it would possible to get Rifftrax and Cinematic Titanic to perform together?? Rifftrax could do a few shorts and CT could do a movie..Just thinking out loud..

If CT is unable to come back to Boston, I will fall to my knees and curse the gods. I couldn’t attend the last Boston show because I was broke and 1 week away from getting my new job’s first paycheck at the time.
