Don’t you think it’s kind of sweet that in all these interviews Joel and Mike seem to be on a team? Joel talks about doing “176 episodes” when, of course, he did nothing of the sort (almost exactly half, right?). There’s not a trace of “us versus them” in any of this and if any fans start that crap up again we have a much better example to throw in their faces.

I also echo what others have said here — press for all of this has been spectacular. Yeah, it’s the 20th anniversary, and yeah, we got the whole gang onboard (which also promotes their individual ventures) but how wonderful that MST3K is exposed again to the world!

(And am I the only one who’d love to see a total class reunion? I can’t see why they couldn’t do ONE show with the bots, Joel and Mike, as a kind of “Return to SOL” that every other successful TV show always tries once. I know there are issues, mostly with who does what bot voice, but these are creative people and I know they could overcome them — I’d make some kind of “Mirror, Mirror” Trek takeoff where the two sets of bots and hosts meet)

There’s a good review on the AV Club today also. Some good comments, too!

If Michael Bay was actually a decent human being and had a sense of humor, we could have a special feature on his DVDs where we can watch it as an episode of MST3K. Bay has kidnapped Mike and the bots and reshot them into space (because he stole the idea from Dr. Forrester) and forces them into watching his movies. There could be host segments and everything (including shadowrama), you just have a special feature on the DVD to play it normally or as an MST3K episode where it stops to show the additional content whenever it’s time for the host segment. It would help his DVD sales, as now even the people who hate his movies would buy them. This way we get a new episode once every two years or so.
    What do you think, sirs?

#10 – Remember, Servo had lots of duplicates of himself roaming around the SOL. One of them could have his old voice (Josh). And as for Crow – the REAL Crow returns from his lifelong quest being pure energy, having left a duplicate on the SOL (Bill). Crow II had all of Crow I’s memories and was on the SOL for a loooong time before the other’s came back, so it just never came up that he was a duplicate. The others ask why he never mentioned it. Crow II says, “I forgot, sue me.”

Making a reunion show would be easy:

The bots get a distress signal from Joel…He’s been kidnapped(Mannapped?)by the evil head of Gizmonics(Joe Don Baker)

Mike and the Bots must find a way to rescue Joel and bring him to justice!……er..just help him.

Along the way they seek the help of Dr.F, Frank, Pearl, Bobo, Observer, Pitch…..etc…

To sum up. The MST3K gang sets out to rescue Joel but ends up crashing the SOL into the moon killing everyone………..hmmmm……need to work on that ending…….

  15. See? There’s LOTS of ways to do a reunion show.

I really wish they’d consider it (perhaps for the Silver Anniversary. Another five years is probably about right to get all the egos and details straightened out). Once, that’s all I’m asking — clearly they love what they are doing and realize they’ve created some history that’s worth preserving. Can you just imagine all the media attention they’d get for that one?

Sampo — you probably have more contacts than any of us here do. Start the rumor, spread the word, get the ball rolling, whatever! Let’s just make this happen!!
