No wonder CT decided to stop touring. It seems no-one went to the show last night. Or as I’ve said in the past a lot of people don’t about this great site. It’s sad, I remember seeing all the pictures people took at the shows and reading about how the shows were. Now I’m sure the pictures end up on peoples Facebook pages. Such are the times we live in, what with these kids today with the fax machines and the hula hoops.

Holy cow, what a show!!!! This was an early birthday present, and it took us a while to get there, but it was fantastic! Gruber was unable to attend, so Joel (and for the second show, Trace and josh) did a Q&A with the audience. I wasn’t called on, but there were some great MST3K and CT related questions. Frank was great as usual with his stand up bits, covering everything from his time on the show to tweets from historical figures. The Wasp Woman was hilarious, for my money even better than the studio version. The Doll Squad was a little different than when I saw it last year when it premiered in Ann Arbor. The changed a few things and refined a few others. It was still howlingly funny. The merchandise table was rather paltry however, with only a poster, a photo of the cast, and Mary Jo’s book being offered. I had really hoped there would be some DVD’s, but we bought one of each thing to be signed. The crew were kind and courteous as always, and such a pleasure to talk to again. I brought my MST3K vs Gamera set for Joel, Trace and Frank to sign, Revenge of the Creature for Mary Jo, Robot Monster for Josh, and my season 1 Tom Servo head for all of them (but particularly for Josh)! We got the poster, photo, and book signed too! All in all, a wonderful evening, well worth getting back home at 2:00 in the morning. My brother, my mom, and her boyfriend also had a blast, and it was great to share the experience of seeing these guys live with them. Thank you Cinematic Titanic for coming back to Detroit one last time; you will all be missed and you are more than welcome back should you resume touring in the future. Thank you so much, and best of luck to all of you in the (not too distant) future! :)

#1: That’s strange. Both shows looked pretty full from our vantage point on stage. And judging by the overwhelming response, it didn’t seem like nobody attended the shows. Huh.

Fantastic shows. The theater was packed for both movies. The opening acts were much more ad lib than in the past. Joel’s Q&A was great. He roamed through the theater with a microphone letting people ask questions and his answers were hilarious. Josh and Trace also did a great job before the second show. I’ve seen Frank’s historical tweet routine before, but this time he let audience members shout out famous people from the past and he “looked them up” in his twitter account to find a tweet to read.

On a personal note I was so honored that before both shows while Trace was on stage he gave me (and my nephew and his wife) a quick call out in the crowd, first saying that he noticed a few faces in the crowd and then said “Hi, Tom.” He added that this was for everyone named Tom of course.

I loved getting to see The Wasp Woman. Joel even mentioned that since they have appeared at the Royal Oak Music Theater four times we’ve seen more movies than any other single location. Therefore, they showed Wasp Woman because it would be new for us. It was only the second time they performed it live. I saw The Doll Squad last year in Ann Arbor and it is really a great riff both times. I really hope that this comes out on DVD at some point (Asral Factor too).

The meet and greet between shows was a marathon session. I think nearly everyone got in line to get something signed and to say hi, thanks and goodbye to the cast. They were gratious as ever, but it took them almost right up to the time when the second feature was supposed to get started. I don’t think anyone minded that they took a few extra minutes in the green room to catch their breath before beginning the second movie.

I stayed after the second film long enough to take a few minutes with each cast member to give my personal thanks and remind them all to keep letting us know what they are doing (Sampo and Erhardt, we’re relying on you to keep in touch with them). Great shows, great humor, bad movies, great memories. Best of luck to everyone in Cinematic Titanic and remember we’re here whenever you want to do a reunion show.

@1 – I hope you’re just razzing us for taking so long to post reports. The theater was full and loud. Like always, I’ll post a report on my website shortly and we can all relive the dream.

    #3: Mary Jo
I hope you didn’t it take as a swipe at you and the rest of cast. I started checking to see what people had to say about the show last night, and when I checked it at 10:41 am and still saw nothing I put that on here. As #5 mentioned it was just a razz, because it seemed like a long time and no one posted anything. I’m sure it was a full house and everyone had a great time including the CT cast and crew.
Again I’m sorry if you took my post as a swipe, we got our tickets for the show in November and I can’t wait for the chance to see the show and meet you all after.

I was able to attend the early show last night (The Wasp Woman), but unfortunately couldn’t stay for the late show. It was the 5th Cinematic Titanic show I’ve attended, as I also saw the double features last year in Royal Oak & Ann Arbor. They were as funny as ever, and the place was packed! Got to meet everyone again after the show, and get a poster signed. If this does indeed end up being their ‘farewell tour’, I’m glad I got to see them one last time.

As mentioned above, Gruber was unable to attend. Thus, Joel did a q&a session before he brought out Trace & Josh, Frank, and last but not least Mary Jo. All of them were very funny! One thing in particular that stood out to me during the q&a with Joel was when somebody asked what his favorite MST3K episode was. His answer was ‘I Accuse My Parents’. He also stated that his favorite short was ‘Mr. B Natural’. Trace & Josh made a couple jokes regarding the show ‘Ghost Hunters’, that was at the same venue the previous night. They said something along the lines of how do you hunt ghosts in a theater full of people, as well as since when did casts from basic cable tv shows start touring live? lol

Anyway, I just wanted again say that it was a pleasure to see Cinematic Titanic for perhaps the final time. Thank you for taking the time to meet your fans, as well as the now decades of entertainment you’ve provided us.

    Best wishes,
    Jamie

I was at the second show only. Twas great. What a Piece of s**t movie! At first i thought the folks at romt didn’t know how to mix sound then i soon realized the movie editors did not know how to mix sound. The intros were great. This was my third live ct event (though first at romt) I am glad i was there. I too hope that ct will release their unreleased eps on dvd. And i can only pray for samson and the 7 miracles in addition to doll squad and astral factor.

Great job by all last night, and i did miss gruber being the warmie!

Okay, I now know I have more fanboy in me than I’d like to admit, because the coolest thing I can say about this comments page is that Mary Jo Pehl read this comments page! That is just awesome!!!

Mary Jo Pehl and the rest of the Cinematic Titanic crew, please dock near St. Louis on the farewell tour (I have put in a request for your return to a venue in the area you have played before). My wife and I would love to see the show one more time. Double feature? Awesome!!!

I went to the first show and had a great time. Sad to think it may be the last.
The high point for me was when I was getting my poster signed by Frank. I said “So, I see your still writing that lazy political humor.”
He laughed out load just when my wife snapped his photo. Good fun!

I know they heard it a thousand times… Thanks Titans!
