Frank Makes “Incompetent Henchman” List

What list of incompetent evil henchmen would be complete without our own TV’s Frank?

If it weren’t for Frank, we might be bowing down to President Forrester by now …but probably not.

Never heard of any of the others. They look quite boring.

My favorite Frank incompetency was when Mike got him
to give him his keys, then outtalked him to convince
Frank he never asked for them.

“The Deus Ex Machina is an escape pod that was hidden in an box labelled “Hamdingers” in the Satellite of Love’s cargo bay. It was discovered by Gypsy in the episode Mitchell when she asked Mike Nelson’s help to find a way to get Joel Robinson off the Satellite (she believed the Mads wanted to kill him after the movie). The reason they didn’t discover it before was because (according to Gypsy) nobody likes Hamdingers, so they never opened the box to look what was really inside. Mike also helped Gypsy gain control of the escape pod after tricking TV’s Frank into giving him the keys to the control panel in Deep 13.”

I also was going to mention The Monarch’s Henchmen (all of them, not just 21 & 24) from The Venture Brothers if they hadn’t been mentioned in the article. :)

Does Schultz from Hogan’s Heroes count as a henchman? He was pretty incompetent. They forgot about him, someone should send them a Bannergram.

@4 Never heard of Darth Maul? Where were you in the summer of 1999? ;)

I wish I had never heard of Jar Jar Binks though.

I never thought of Frank as incompetent. I always figured he was the smarter of the two and he was always quietly sabotaging Dr. F. He knew what he was doing…DISCUS!

Right. I didn’t mean to include Darth Maul. I guess
I’m still traumatized by Jar Jar Binks, sort of like Mike and the bots reaction to clowns…especially Danish clowns!

Looking at the list, it does appear that save for a few characters, the list seems to be slanted towards more recent (i.e. 1990’s and later) titles. After all, where’s Max from The Great Race (especially given how part of TV’s Frank’s character seems to be inspired by him)?

“Push the button, Max”. (an explosion takes place) “MAAAAAAAAAXXXXX!!!”

Like the author, I always thought that Starscream would be a lot more effective if he just put aside his desire to rule and got things done. He really is very intelligent, and ruthlessly cunning. His ambition makes him his own worst enemy though. Although he did get to rule for a few hours or so…
Rocksteady & Bebop were just dumb muscle. Unfortunately that’s not very effective against Ninja, much less Mutant Ninja Turtles.
And as much as Skeletor wants to take over the world, I think he has insecurity issues, and doesn’t want too many intelligent minions around him. Thus Clawful…

As for Frank, either Dr. Forester is far more competent than we’re led to believe, or Frank has some sort of mutant healing ability.
