Last night’s Cinematic Titanic was great. Total new riffs on the old standard “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians”. My wife and son and I laughed our tails off.

Did anyone ask the Sklar’s if Cheap Seats was coming to DVD?

  3. Erhardt says:

    Speedy,

Actually, yes. Jason said that they’d like to release “Cheap Seats” on DVD but are having a few rights issues. It was pointed out that Shout! Factory has to deal with those types of issues for MST3K, so he may try contacting them.

Had a great time at Cinematic Titanic last night. I got Joel and J. Elvis to sign my model of the SOL bridge. Got a lot of compliments on it to.

The show was awesome. I had Joel and Trace both sign shirts for me. My only regret is that I couldn’t get my digital camera to work. I really wanted a picture of myself with the Titans.

  6. Scott says:

I said it in the other thread, Andre, I was the kid in the black MST shirt with an annoying laugh that sat in front of you. Also, I saw that SOL bridge thing, amazing work on that, btw.

It was a great time, all the riffers were real down-to-earth, nice people. I can now cross “shaking Joel Hodgeson’s Hand” off my things to do before I die list.

I actually kneeled down before Trace….to have him sign my homemade Crowjunkie t-shirt. (I wasn’t thinking ahead, you know, wearing the shirt I wanted signed)

What an amazing evening! At first, I kind of questioned the choice to do “Santa Claus…” but in the end, it was a good choice. It was hard to not think of the MST3K jokes during a few scenes though. Of course, getting a chance to meet my idols again was such a pleasure and they were all so nice and amazing. Grube’s set was amazing too, by the way. I shook his hand after the show too and he was very nice. Thank you to everyone involved in the show! It was a wonderful night indeed! I hope that I get the chance to see them perform live again someday!

My wife and I had a blast too, it was worth the drive from Indiana. It was way cool to meet all the riffers and they seemed like such nice people. I will for sure frame my now autographed copy of My My My Mitchell!!!!!

Pete & I were there. I can be seen in the crowd photo, near the front, just behind and to the right of the guy with the afro.
It was humbling to be in the presence of the legendary, original cast. Their comic genius came through as they re-worked an old MSTie movie with fresh and relevant riffs.

I was skeptical at first, but this seems like it’s going to be pretty damn good. I’d love to see both Rifftrax and Cinematic Titanic do the same film, just so CT can wipe the floor with those chumps.

Jesus, do you have anything to say that doesn’t deal with your hatred of Rifftrax? I don’t get it. Did Mike, Bill, and Kevin kill your family or something?

    Jesus Thinks You’re A Jerk = TROLL

Seriously there guy, we all hate you. I know that some people get aroused by internet trolling, but they at least try to be funny. You’re just a lame ass whiner. Did you buy a RiffTrax and hate it? I’m sure we can find someone around here to refund your $4 so you will take your trolling somewhere else.

Maybe Jesus Thinks You’re a Troll is a leftover from the Joel Vs Mike Flamewar, like those people who are still convinced the Civil War isn’t over, we’re just in a slow period.

    “Happy National Point-a-gun-at-a-kid Day !”

This is similar in form and structure to an actual joke, but it lacks any humorous content.

And it’s not because of the text, I think you can find humor everywhere, pointing guns at kids included.

It’s just not funny. And CT has a LOT of ‘jokes’ like this. Mechanical, un-imaginative. Insert Riff A into Line B.

Don’t let anyone tell you that CT doesn’t have any robots….

I’ve sunk too much money into CT already. ‘Legacy’ will probably end up being my last. Sorry guys. But I would be willing to try a live show, should they decide to play the Big Apple.

( On the other hand I’ve rocked my brand new First Space Ship on Venus twice so far – KLACK!!!!, and the others one time each, plus all the extras. very happy. Woo Hoo )

I have to agree with your comment on “Happy National Point-a-gun-at-a-kid Day !”. Its not witty.

To me none of the post-MST3K endeavors (CT, Film Crew, Rifftrax) have lived up to the old series for one reason or another. I fault production costs since I’m sure any single MST3K episode had more writers and effort thrown into it from a budgetary standpoint.

CT, like the rest of the 21st century projects are more MST3K season 1 or 2-ish and I don’t think its because the writers have really lost it. They just don’t work that well on the cheap.

What a great evening! It was made even more special by sharing it with my pals Brian and Mike. I finally got the two sigs lacking in my collection, namely by Joel and Josh. They signed my This Island Earth Film Fax zine which now contains all the Brains’ sigs plus Russell Johnson, Kim Catrall, etc.It was cool that Frank and Trace recognized me from previous events. A special thanks to my pal Mike with whom I’ve taken 14 MST-related trips in the last 14 years. Yours in MSTiedom, Daddy-O

My uncle was at this one and called to tell us about it yesterday. Sounded like a blast, he just wished he had known they’d be signing afterwards.

  25. Fred P says:

I always thought it would be interesting for the Mike era to tackle a film from the Joel era and update the riffs. Now we’ll get the chance to see the guys from CT re-riff an old film they’ve already riffed, my only issue is while I was watching the highlights I found myself reciting the old riffs and comparing them to the new ones and wondering how they’d tackle some of the classic riffs.

  26. Diamond Joe says:

Is a trailer supposed to make you worried? The only part I really liked was the holiday version of the theme. There was certainly no “Who keeps a masturbation journal?!” or “A gumball machine head on a robot? I’m sorry, that is LAME.”

I’m still hoping they’ll prove my worries unfounded.

 First of all, yes,I am jealous and even envious for anyone that attended any of the CT shows, but hey, that’s the price you pay when living in Arkansas.I am looking forward to the dvd release of SCCTM,after watching the trailer.I was a little skeptical at first, but, after watching it,it’s funny as hell! At least they didn’t go back on the old riffs from the MST3K version and they did something different with it.After this, then they can do “Frankenstein’s Daughter” and “The Astounding She-Monster”..Keep up the great work Titans!!!!

  29. Jesus Thinks You're A Jerk says:

“Did Mike, Bill, and Kevin kill your family or something?”

Kevin is responsible for the death of my mother by making her laugh herself into a heart attack at fart jokes that even Larry the Cable Guy would find tasteless.

Hey Jesus troll, I’m proud of you. You at least tried to be funny with that lame ass comment. I mean, you failed miserably, but kudos on the attempt. Still, we all hate you and want you to bugger off, but at least now you’re trying.

  31. Robyn says:

Jason, seriously…don’t feed the troll. You’re acting like a bigger troll than he is with your constant name-calling and hateful spam. I think it’s annoying that JTYAJ feels like he must constantly remind everyone that he hates RiffTrax, but really, who cares? It’s his opinion. Anyway, Mike’s a big boy, I doubt he’s crying himself to sleep every night because of a few negative comments. Please, be the bigger man and just walk away.

gosh I am so slow some ( most ? ) times. I’ve been trying to figure out who the Titans were that people kept refering to, until just this morning it dawned on me that they were refering to the CT crew ( TITANic ).

And here I’ve been thinking of them all this time as just the T**s.

The two Christmas MST3K episodes are among my favorites, but this doesn’t look appealing.

CT has been very disappointing to me. I haven’t enjoyed any of the installments yet. The show is dreary and self-important.

Maybe “Jesus Thinks You’re A Jerk” is really Mike Nelson using a nom-de-plume so he can get everyone to show how much they love him.

It’s been a while since the event, but if you’re just checking out Brian’s photos and writings, and are thinking I just need more, more, more! in order to get through my day, I’ve posted my own recounting of the show. Enjoy!
