Reminder: Frank and Trace in St. Louis

UPDATE: The workshop is sold out.

Frank and Trace will be appearing for two shows at the Ivory Theater in St. Louis on Saturday, December 12. Each show will feature a different film never before riffed in St. Louis. Tickets, which go on sale Friday, November 13 at 10am, are $35 and can be purchased online at MetroTix.com or by phone at 314-534-1111. A separate ticket is required for each show.

Would you like to spend even more quality time with Frank and Trace? Then you might want to attend the three-hour riff-writing workshop that they will be giving earlier that day. Tickets are $80 and may also be purchased at MetroTix.com beginning Friday at 10am. As you might guess, space is limited.

It’s odd this is getting going in the shadow of Joel’s big announcement. It’s also an odd pairing in that these two guys are living in a completely different part of the country these days and yet finding a way to make it work. I have to say right now I’d prefer a re-united Cinematic Titanic over a recast reboot of MST.

Ditto. I was very, very happy with the later Cinematic Titanic efforts, and was delighted to see Doll Squad live, though I’m a bit crestfallen that they never bothered to tape that one.
I don’t think we’ve gotten the real story of what went wrong with CT, or are we likely too.

@Mega Weapon–I almost think it would make a case study for a business school, if there was access to what happened behind the scenes.

Unsatisfying outcome for the audience, I can only imagine likewise for the creators.

I refuse to believe anything went wrong. Clearly Joel wanted his old brand back and that is/was his top priority. Josh and Frank always seem to have several irons in the fire. That does appear to leave Trace and Mary Jo as the odd persons out. Yes Trace did Other Space and The Frank but that is all that I’m aware of and those are hardly things he can live off. I don’t know what Mary Jo has done since the end of Cinematic Titanic. That’s why I find it odd those two in particular have no connection (at present) with the MST reboot.

I’m confused… Joel, Trace, and Josh just got together for Jack Black’s Festival Supreme on Oct. 10th. Obviously by that point, they would’ve all known about the reboot. If they could work together on putting that show together, and be around each other, I just don’t see what could’ve possibly happened to have them not be involved with the reboot, announced a month later.

I don’t remember seeing this before, but they’re at the Alamo Drafthouse this Friday and Saturday for the Denver MSTies.

Friday is $25 and that’s some riffing, Q&A and autographs. Saturday is $75 and is a riffing workshop.

And a Denver update- Just got back from the Friday Show. (FYI- there’s a Saturday show as well at 7:30. The workshop is at noon.) Tonight’s show was Plan Nine from Outerspace. Decent enough riffing, although I’d honestly have preferred to see something a bit more obscure since, hey, it’s the 4th time I’ve seen this one riffed. But hey, only so many public domain films out there.

Amusingly, I did notice a few nearly identical riffs from the Rifftrax version(s). Completely inadvertent since there’s no overlap between each riffing group, but it amused me.

If the pair is in the area, you’ll probably want to catch them. I think they mentioned upcoming shows in Cleveland, Saint Louis and at Sketch Fest in SF after the first of the year.

And yes, questions were asked about the reboot. Both confirmed that they aren’t involved in the reboot in any way.

When will Frank and Trace officially be called “The Mads”? I mean for convenience sake.

Well, they’ve been going by “The Mads are Back” since June.

Although they only started using it in show branding (as compared to simply “Trace Beaulieu and Frank Coniff”) in October, I think. Not sure why Satellite News doesn’t use the name.

Hey, maybe people should spend the entire show in St. Louis asking Trace and Frank about the MST3K reboot, and whether they are going to be a part of it?!?!??!?!?!?

I mean really, REALLY, ask several questions about Joel, and how wouldn’t it be great if they could all work together again. I think they would be thrilled to go over that ad nauseam.

They were each putting their own money into CT,so maybe that could be it…
