You mean because it makes it harder for you to pirate and profit off their work?

I cant get my video card’s Clone function to work with Divx. So it doesnt work with video out going to my TV while still running on my monitor. I have to choose either one or the other. Which kinda sucks but thankfully Joel’s alluded to Flv.

Who said anything about piracy? How about having fair use rights to work that you have legitimately purchased? If I buy it I want to be able to burn it to DVD to watch in a dvd player, or to re-encode it so that I could load it onto a personal media player, or be able to watch it in the Linux operating system, and so forth.
