Pre-ordered, using THAT LINK. Now I just need to remember to not spend all my money when the time comes.

  8. Yeah, in these troubled times, that’s just too far ahead for me to pre-order. I’m beginning to wonder whether I’ll ever want to spring for any more of these sets when I have most of the episodes I care about, anyway. If they went back to single releases I think they’d be glad they did. Just my opinion.

“If they went back to single releases I think they’d be glad they did.”

If they went back to single releases they would only make money on the popular episodes. Odds are season 1 episodes would not make money.
Also, I have all but two of the dvd releases (Volume 9 and Hellcats) and it’s already taking up plenty of room. Releasing 4 at a time saves a little space.
Finally, with the 20th Anniversary set they have the History of MST3K split across the discs, because there is no way the whole thing could fit onto one along with the episode. Single releases means limited extras. (I did not fact check, so I could be wrong about not being able to fit it on one disc. My point is still made though)

    Just my opinion.

Also, releasing one episode at a time might mean releasing less episodes in a year…one episode every few months instead of four episodes every few months.

If the “single ep method” sold better then I’m sure they would have reverted back by now.

i’ve discovered wonderful eps that i’d never seen in the boxed sets… Planet of the Prehistoric women is a great example… ring of terror is another.

i get a real kick outta watching these eps for the first time… keeps the experience fresh.

    lots i haven’t seen.

    3 outta this lot i haven’t seen.
its worth it for zombie nightmare for sure!

I want ’em all. So single, box set…who cares as long as they are still pumping them out. $42 for 4 pristine copies is money well spent. There are some decent extras coming with the set as well. Can’t wait to see the Jon Mikl Thor interview, that guy is an A+ whackjob, but does play a mean guitar.

Done, $42 is a great price, and I don’t intend to miss any releases (ala Vols 9 and 10) so I always pre-order now.

42 is good… less than 11 each, despite the fact the only A++ title here is Zombie Nightmare, it just so happens it’s worth it.

I admit my shelf space is getting this, but its worth it to have my favorite show on DVD box sets…
I think singles would work for a popular episode or some expensive episode that SF could only put out a single..like It Conquered the World, Diabolik, Revenge of the Creature…
At some point when the harder to get episodes are left Im sure there might be a different way the titles get released.
Im glad Season 1 is getting some love as most are PD and easy to get. I bet Volume 16 has a Season 1 show in it like The Corpse Vanishes or something

lol @ #16 sauron. Finally, stimulus money being put to good use!!

I’ve done my first pre-order of a MST3K box set; hell, $42 is a great price, and my usual source for all things MST (Newbury Comics) charged me more than expected on the Volume XIV copy. And if my pre-ordering thru Satellite News helps Sampo & co., all the better then!

Amazon paid for my copy of vol. 14, and hopefully I can get them to do the same for this one. Hooray for rewards certificates!

Just a heads up guys, and I’m pretty sure this has been mentioned before, but you can download the new releases from itunes individually for $9.99 or rent ’em for $3.99. To be honest I don’t care that much about having hard copies anyway. I confess the main reason I bought the 20th anniversary addition was for the cool lunch box case and crow figure. And besides CT and Rifftrax have collectively hit me for almost a hundo this year.

Amazon just dropped the price on this new MST3K Volume XV set to $38.99. I pre-ordered using the link here from Satellite News. I also ordered with it a copy of The Room for $8.49. It’s the Manos of romantic melodramas, a train wreck of a film that is fun to watch with others and comment upon while you watch.
