  1. His dad wrote The Holy Barbarians.
HIS DAD WAS “KING OF THE BEATNIKS” in The Hypnotic Eye.
So before we even go to James Lipton’s cred (check out Wiki and imdb), he starts out a hundred times cooler than I could ever be.

Because of his style and subject matter Mr. Lipton was easy to lampoon as evidence by the many comedians who tried it. Some, like Mike, put genuine effort into it. Some, like Will Ferrell, resorted to crassness and semi-slander. I hope his passing was easy and peaceful. RIP

If ever anyone seemed to have a REAL passion for what he/she did, it was James Lipton. On top of that, he seemed to have a GREAT sense of humor when it came to all those that made fun of him…..which made him that much more likeable.

You may, or may not have liked the guy, but to those who knew who he was, and got a chance to see him doing what he loved, it SURE was difficult not to respect him and what he accomplished in his lifetime….

Mike’s impression of him in Werewolf is still a highlight for me. He was spot on. It’s seems like Lipton was a class act about it which leaves me with a positive impression of him. RIP Mr. Lipton.
