Sergio Fantoni, RIP

ROME — Italian actor Sergio Fantoni died here April 17. He was 89. Perhaps best known in America for his role in “Von Ryan’s Express,” he also appeared in dozens of Italian TV shows and films, and did voice work as well.

MSTies will remember him for his portrayal of Eteocles in the movie in episode 408- HERCULES UNCHAINED.

Here’s obit in Italian.

Thanks to Tim for the heads up.

  1. Perhaps best known in America for his role in “Von Ryan’s Express,”

Namely, every time a MSTie-movie character runs after a car: “Run, Von Ryan, run! (doosh-doosh, doosh!)

  2. “Two words, Hercules, French doors.” I know he didn’t say that, but it’s a perfect riff, and his portrayal of Eteocles is one of the things I love best about HERCULES UNCHAINED. RIP!

@38:00 in “The Girl in Gold Boots” “You guys are broke, go home and watch the late movie on TV” “Do you know if Von Ryan’s Express is on?”
