    Although he didn’t start acting in movies until he was almost 40, Franklyn Farnum appeared in over 1100 movies during his long career. He was in eight films that won the Oscar for Best Picture, plus another nine that were Best Picture nominees. His real name was William Smith and he was not related to William Farnum.
