Weekend Discussion Thread: Episodes That Grew on You

Alert reader James writes:

Here’s a good topic for weekend discussion: “episodes I hated or just disliked at first, but now love.”

Ooh, good one! Me, I would pick episode 615- KITTEN WITH A WHIP. Something about the movie turned me off the first couple of times I saw it, but when I watched it more recently for the episode guide, it just cracked me up and the movie didn’t bug me at all.

And, you know, I guess since we’re doing this, we should also probably allow comments on the reverse: episodes you initially liked but later soured on.

Which one(s) would you pick?

Like many of you, I though “Touch of Satan” was just OK when it first aired, but I recently dug out my VHS tape and thought the riffing was fantastic. In terms of the writing, it’s a top 10 episode, IMHO.

For a long time, I couldn’t stand “Monster A Go Go”; in fact, most times I’d simply watch the short “Circus on Ice” and then fast-forward my tape. But eventually I gave it a try and now watch it more often. I also warmed to “Touch of Satan” after initially being bored with it.

It’s hard for me to determine an ep that I’ve soured on. The closest that would qualify I guess would be Cave Dwellers; for some reason, I don’t laugh at the jokes as much as I did when first viewing the show. But it’s still a decent episode.
