J. Elvis on “Jeopardy”!

On last night’s (07/08) “Jeopardy” broadcast, one ‘answer’ was…

Jeopardy

The contestant responded “Mystery Science Theater.” No deduction of points for omitting the “3000.”

Congrats, Josh!

Thanks to Claire Little and Joe Raygor for the heads up. And thanks to, um, well, he knows who he is, for the screen shot.

Hey, thanks for the mention! (I’m Joe Raygor for those who don’t know)

I have a much better quality screen shot and a YouTube link if interested.

Only thing better than that would’ve been a video version of the question.

Claire L. here. I love the fact that “he knows who” apparently just took a quick photo of his TV. I’d have fumbled with the camera and missed it.

    And thanks for the mention!

Maybe he utilized his DVR as I did. My wife was in the kitchen when the question popped up and I just hit rewind and showed it to her. We always like to hear when one of the boys are mentioned on TV. I always thought an MST3K question would be perfect for the Millionaire show. (In the third tier of course)

    How much was it worth?

    J. Elvis Weinstein’s blog at CT talks about this. It was a $1000 question, which is just a touch sad because in Jeopardy,
    High $ Value = Obscurity.

Last Saturday’s rerun, I believe it was, also had a Mystery Science Theater 3000 answer. That was a Robots category, I think.

Well, Tom Servo and Mst3k may not be “highly obscure” but Josh Weinstein is even obscure for some mst3k fans. I mean the guy has ktma and season 1 to his resume, which were rough birthing years for the show (hitting its stride season 2-3)

Anyone know what category this question was under?

  11. Joseph Nebus says:

The category was “Writing For TV”, with the answers being various writers and the questions identifying shows for which they wrote.

Very nice, I guess if it’s on Jeopardy then it’s still in today’s pop culture. Speaking of…anyone else irritated that MST3K didn’t appear on “I love The 90’s” on VH1. That would have been one of the first things I would have expected and yes I am a little biased but….

Yes, they should have put it on that show, seeing as everyone is making fun of everything. Something done best on MST3K; would have been right up their alley.
