Mike Guests on Podcast

Mike is a guest on a podcast called “Grizzly Bear Egg Cafe.”

His interview starts at about the 28-minute mark.

This one may be the best example yet of a problem I see again and again when MST3K folks are interviewed, a problem that can be summed up with the statement: “Just because you consider yourself a fan of the person you’re interviewing, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do your homework.”

    This was a good interview.
For those of us who try to listen to all things Mstie,
this interview did have a different slant, with different questions.

I thought it was interesting that they asked about some of the icons from the HA channel and the early days of the Comedy Channel.

For those of us who remember the boon in new upper cable channels, it was mildly nostalgic to remember when these places had “live” hosts and slapped together shows to fill time.

Of course, why Mike should know what ever happen to the Higgens Boys & Gruber or Daniel Tosh (Tosh.0) was mildly confusing as MST3K was in one part of the country and those other shows were done elsewhere. It’s like when you go to a foreign country and say you are from California. Inevitably someone will ask if you know his cousin who lives in Los Angeles. (Oh is THAT who lives there. Yea I see him when I drive to Fresno) :???:

Other than that, it was a good interview and a diffrent style.

Thanks for telling us about it.

Oh grow up, the interview was fine. Its a podcast between friends! Homework?! They know more about what they’re talking about than 99% of the drivel posted on this site. Problem, indeed. The only problem is that this site goes further and further downhill by the year.

I too fail to understand what so offended Sampo about this interview. I’m a pretty hardcore fan and I found it informative. Understandably Mike wouldn’t be inclined to promote Gruber by volunteering “Oh you can go see him at Cinematic Titanic shows!”

There was nothing wrong with the interview. Now the Chris Gore deal, I could see getting pissy over that. Because the guy was clearly clueless about the show. At least the podcast, unlike this site, was fun and informative. Besides Mike could have declined to do the interview period and been a diva about it. So eat on that.

Well at least “HeKilledKenny” brought a valuable ray of sunshine and hope (+ loads of fun and information) to this non-funny and uninformative website!
