I enjoyed it, and I can’t wait for the next one.

I’d give it 2.5-3 stars. For some reason, I liked DOOMSDAY MACHINE better, even though the ending of the film was horrendous.

I think CT will get better and better with time, and more backstory will continue to be revealed. Also, the distinctive personalities of the riffers will start to be more obvious.

    Slightly off topic:
The rating scale for the classic episodes (now disabled) seems like it’s always at 4-5 stars for EVERY episode. I’m a gigantic MST3K fanboy, but even I don’t think every episode is worthy of 4-5 stars. How about more objectivity in ratings? With these rating habits, I’m expecting HAMLET to get a 3.99, when it may be the worst episode of the series.

Okay, I guess I’ll have to get THIS one, too. Looks like I’m going to have to give up eating for a couple days in order to keep buying these damn DVD’s. I feel like an addict.

very good effort, the movie was so weird! My only complaint, and I hope some from CT hears this, is that the “buddy rich” drummer skit halfway through fell VERY flat. Come on guys , you dont need the foul language that was used there! The crew is much too funny without having to stoop to the use of shock!

Haven’t seen it yet, but I am disappointed to hear about that. Part of the reason I love the MST3K/CT/RT brand of humor is because it allows me to laugh heartily while at the same time escape from the gutter film “comedy” content of our Judd Apatowized society. They don’t drop the F word do they? No matter, just as Jerry Seinfeld has said in interviews when asked why he doesn’t incorporate profanity into his jokes, it’s “poor workmanship because you’re causing the audience to laugh by shocking/making them nervous.” Which is ironic because Seinfeld referenced Buddy Rich on the show in a joke (I think he was making light of some tirade George had gone on)

And as much as I love CT, the “silhouette sketches” just don’t do it for me. It really shows you how important the framing device of the ‘bots/Mads/SOL were to the feel and flow of the show. Curse you Mallon, it’s all your fault the 20th anniversary was a whimper and not a bang. But nooooo, you had to be the sole copyright owner of any reunion special as you even inadvertantly hinted yourself in the Q&A..

Not saying that it’s not a great time to be a MST as someone in a previous post said, mind you.

You are an addict. We all are…and I am your king.( oops, slipped into MP’s Holy Grail there for a sec.)

I’m drinking generic instant coffee right now (Blechhh!) and eating generic cereal for dinner all week because I need to buy the dvd Monday,
and I just bought all 21 rifftrax shorts.

Thing is, I don’t regret it, like some other addictions might cause us to do.

Not sure I’ll buy this one…..liked ‘oozing skull’ but really didn’t like ‘doomsday’……think I’ll sit back and wait for a coleman francis type movie.

Also…. I want to see skits and sketches. The CT crew should play secret agents or movie producers or SOMETHING! I really don’t feel connected to them and wish they would play characters.

    Or maybe some shorts?

I’m not particularly uptight about foul language, but I do like the (mostly) clean charm of MST and related endeavors. I recall them swearing once during MST3k: The Movie (just ‘cuz they could, I guess) and finding it a bit lame . . . I hope it doesn’t become a habit in future CT episodes.

I enjoyed it a lot. A few years ago, I started collecting any UnMSTied versions of the films that were on DVD. Wasp Woman came as a bonus on my copy of Attack of the Giant Leeches. I always thought they could have a good time riffing on it, and they did!

“The Wasp Woman”, in my opinion, was pretty good. I didn’t think the movie gave them as much to work with as the first two but it was fun enough. I think the format is fine, some of the sketches have been better than others.

I think “Buddy Rich” was cussin’ so much because I think that is what he was like, or at least my impression of things I’ve read and heard about him.

In the MST3K movie, Tom Servo was the delivery man, err… bot, for the three “sh**s” that were said. I think there was a bit of cussin’ in a Rifftrax or two. To top this little entry of mine off, if you have seen the movie “Comedian”, you will know that when Seinfeld began doing stand-up again, he used cuss words and said that it was fun to curse up on stage. Hey, curse words are fun, and it’s only society that has decided through the years which words are curse words and which are not. And there’s a documentary about the word “F*ck” that was very interesting, which touched on the historical and social aspects of the “most dreaded of the curse words”.

That’s all I have to say on these subjects…. for now. Maybe I’ll have more to say, maybe not. One never knows, do one, and, also, tomorrow never knows.

    BUKOOOM!!!

They don’t drop the F-bomb but “Buddy Rich” did say G**damn a couple of times and that bothers me much more. But, that was the only part I didn’t like. This was my first CT and I loved it!! They had me laughing from the get go and it never really let up. I’ll have to watch it again to catch all the stuff I’m sure I laughed over. I also have the un-riffed version of this one and it’s just a fun, crazy bad monster movie. I hope they do more like this one. Maybe they could get a hold of From Hell It Came about killer trees. I’d definitely pay $9 for that  .

I liked Wasp Woman, it is much closer to the olde days. I think the guys are definitely getting into the groove.

I think Doomsday was a little ambitious for their 2nd project back, the movie was too bad for them to be “practicing” on. The result was a new coaster for me!

I think The boardroom sketch was pretty good, mostly because it was on-topic and they were able to stop the film in the right spot.

The Buddy Rich thing was maybe funny if you were into Buddy Rich or Jazz. But to me it just seemed like an excuse to show that “hey we’re allowed to swear”. don’t get me wrong, I love it when they throw out a few choice swears now and then, but don’t do it just “because you can”

(I did like that they asked Frank ‘do you even read the internet?’ implying that they all knew that nobody liked Frank’s first attempt at the sketch)

i JUST REMEMBER br FROM THE tONIGHT sHOW AND—-F*&*^(# caps!! Son of a B*(&^&!!! Sorry, remember reading that he had a real potty mouth, so it doesn’t bother me when our heroes are at least accurate in their portrayal. Have to admit, though, there was something really special about adult humor w/o the swearing!!

Buddy Rich : there is an audio tape floating around out there of Buddy Rich going off on one of his band members, on a tour bus or some such. Apparently the level, extremity, and creativity of the abusive langauge involved has raised the tape to folkloric / legendary status among working comics. Someone in the media mentioned it recently…

  19. Doomsday Machine wasn’t that bad. The slow part was actually kind of funny when you imagine what the people in the movie theaters way back when must have been thinking during that scene. Of course, the people in the drive-ins weren’t paying any attention to the movie at that point, if they were lucky. Overall it was pretty hit-and-miss-and-miss, though.
