Note–this is one of those movies that may be a little harder to find. NetFlix has it, Blockbuster doesn’t. It’s on Amazon at about $23 bucks, but it’s on the Best Buy website for about half that. If you look hard enough you’ll find one…

For those who have ebay accounts, it’s on ebay for $17.46 new.

Also, for anyone interested, Amazon is currently selling the blu-ray for LESS than the dvd ($16.49 vs $22.49)….. :idk:
I have to pay money for that garbage? How about $15 for a pre-synched RiffTrax DVD of the movie?
Dang, I was hoping this would be a VOD.
Am I the only one hearing the line “I’ve got great news for you” as “I’ve got rabies for you.”?
God,what a painful movie.Just seen it today through Netflix.Worse than Troll 2 by a long shot..and I saw on the director’s website he’s making a sequel..a sequel??
Just watched the “riff-less” sample clip on the site….
Oh…my…god. Everything I had read about it had not prepared me for THIS level of “awful-ness”. Are you sure this film wasn’t some kind of elementary school, third grade class project?
I MUST find a copy of it ASAP!
Holy crap. I just watched the sample clip. The cheap dinosaur puppets from Future War are masterpieces compared to the CGI in Birdemic.
The “HOBGOBLINS” puppets were more convincing and life-like…
Looks like I need to make a trip to Best Buy tonight…
Netflix is long wait on the dvd, no redbox or blockbuster. looks like i need to buy this movie. I can’t believe i’m looking forward to buying on of the cheapest movies made. I cant wait to watch it be made fun of
Anyone watch it on Comcast on Demand? Just noticed the movie on mine – so excited to watch it this week!
Considering the level of the special effects (and… uh, acting?), I think they’ll make back their budget by selling one DVD.
Just finished watching it – Rifftrax has outdone itself. Best one yet! Bravo bravo! :rotfl:
Review from my blog:
A confounding mess of a movie, reimagining Hitchcock’s The Birds with even less-convincing special effects. The first half is mostly a goofy romantic fantasy where a software sales-nerd courts a supermodel, then it abruptly shifts gears when the poorly CGI’d birds attack the population of the Bay Area. Some very heavy-handed ecological themes make it seem as if this was a sincere statement by the director. Funny remarks from the riffing crew made this one bearable, reminding me at times of MST3K classics like Manos and The Killer Shrews.
They haven’t riffed on it yet.I think someone said it’ll be next week..
Well, I found a copy of “D-Wars” in the $5.00 bin at Wal-Mart, resulting in an awful movie coupled with a great Rifftrax. Maybe this one will show up there, too. I’ll keep my eyes open.
this movie has bad acting, bad edits and awful special effects. Which made is the perfect rifftrax. I hurt myself twice from laughing.
What I dont get is why did they keep getting out of their van and walk far away just to be attacked each time. I like how the new victoria’s secret cover girl models at a 1 hour photo.
Apparently Amazon has lowered their price on the dvd, so it’s now less than the blu-ray ($15.49 vs $16.49).
Best Buy is selling it for $14.99..
Just seen them riff this on Facebook a few minutes ago.Pretty funny stuff, but wished they would have riffed more on it than just a few clips..I forgot to mention that I bought the blu-ray for 14.99.
From the samples, it is possible that this is a movie that cannot be made funnier by riffing. I watched both the unriffed and riffed samples. The riffs distract/insulate me from the sheer gawpiness of the effects when the birds hover in perfectly symmetrical groupings over the car without moving anything but their wings. And the riffs go over the crappy cubicle audio like they guys are actually in the “set” with the actors…and your almost fooled into thinking at least these guys emote even if their dialog is still kind of random.
I just finished watching and here’s my take: WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT????????? :-? :-? The riffing was great (as usual), I’m just talking about the “movie” itself. Screwed up lines, bad CGI, bad acting, guns with infinite ammo, 85 hour days, the creepy shop teacher from UHF making a cameo appearance. This is why I don’t go to the movies anymore.
@ 23..I don’t know if you read my post at #6,but the director is making a sequel…
I hope RiffTrax does that one too. It will be even worse than the first one. Yet another unwanted, uncalled for, unnecessary sequel.
@25 I’m pretty sure they will because I doubt very seriously that the sequel is going to be any better than the first one.I doubt the director learned anything of what not to do and what to do from the first one.
Love the Wilhem Scream line. And bird don’t have teeth.
Not to beat a dead horse, but Amazon’s price on this movie has dropped yet again. The dvd is now $12.99, and the blu-ray is $14.99.
Now that’s what I call volatile pricing! :snicker:
I wonder if the police would give me a citizen’s commendation if I stole a DVD of Birdemic? It seems like a crime to pay for this movie.
What #8 said regarding Future War’s Dino puppets vs. Birdemic’s CGI. This looks hilarious, like it’d be a classic Sci Fi era installment if it were an actual MST3K ep. Speaking of which, it’s great to see the guys still willing to do ultra low grade material like this for us since they make much less money on the site.
Also does Birdemic have nudity/anything I should be aware of if I watch with kids?

Bought the DVD yesterday, watched it riffed last night and my mouth is still agape.

For those of us who love Ed Wood, Larry Buchanan and their ilk, we seem to have entered a new renaissance of bad movie making — The Room, Dragon Wars and now THIS??
SPOILERS:
So many questions: Why does our “hero” walk around like a somnambulist in an adult diaper? Why doesn’t our “supermodel” call the cops the first time he approaches her? How do eagles hover just by slow-flapping the tips of their wings? Why does our now-wealthy hero take his supermodel girlfriend to a cheap motel? Why does the guy from the nameless couple in the next room end up being the really heroic one? Why do the birds attack? Why do the birds stop attacking? Why do the birds explode? What is the caustic yellow goop? Why do our heroes insist on having a picnic in the middle of a field after they just escaped A frakING BIRD ATTACK FOR CRYING OUT LOUD?….
Sorry, it got away from me there for a second. Birdemic has that effect on you….
And Captain Cab, I don’t think you will have any problem watching this with your kids: the word “****” comes up a few times; we get to see our heroine in a bra and thong, and our hero & heroine go to bed together but thank heaven it fades out before anything happens….
That’s the “s” word, not the “f” word.
@ Gummo:
Thanks for the info!
#32 Gummo: Don’t feel bad. This weekend, I found myself screaming those exact same questions at the screen when I watched the movie UN-riffed. HOLY MOLEY…W.T.F WAS THAT!? It’s pretty safe to say that I’ll be sure to get the Rifftrax to go along with it before I attempt another viewing. I don’t wanna go back in there alone…
Oh.. my…. god…. This is so incredibly bad and the riffing is incredible. I had to do some research and from Wikipedia I found this nugget.

In January of 2009, Nguyen traveled to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah to promote the film freelance, handing out flyers to passers-by from his van, adorned with stuffed birds and paper signs that read “BIDEMIC.COM” (spelling Birdemic wrong in his haste) and “WHY DID THE EAGLES AND VULTURES ATTACKED?”

All I can say is… it was a warning sign. Also should note that “all your base are belong to us.”
