Weekend Discussion Thread: MST3K EarwormsIf you’re unfamiliar with the term, I’m not talking Wrath of Khan here. An “earworm” is an irritatingly catchy tune that gets stuck in your head, and you find yourself humming it, without even thinking about it. I first thought about this a few weeks ago when I could not get this eight bars out of my head.

This is true. I’m thinking of requesting that it be used as the exit music to my funeral (many, many, many years from now, of course).

I’ve always adored the theme and accompanying soundtrack to The Girl In Lover’s Lane. KevTom nails the vocal.

Man, I ACCUSE MY PARENTS is one of my top five episodes and every time I watch it “Are You Happy In Your Work” just lingers for days.

I’ve always been partial to that big-bass/suggestive rhythm of Jack Nitzsche’s song that is called ‘The Last Race.’ It is the main theme and underlying current of giant teen takeover in ‘Village of the Giants.’ There’s something very sensual about that rhythm, to the point that another fan (RIP D.C., you were the first big VOTG fan before me) made an mp3 of the VOTG title track, where it now resides on my iPhone.
I’ll also plug the fact that I managed to reach Mike Clifford who was also in VOTG, and he recently sent me the full copies of the songs Marianne (of which we only heard about 20-30 seconds of in the film), and Nothing can stand in my Way (the credited but never heard second song he did for the film). I’m putting together some info on Mike at my VOTG page, and can’t wait to add them in to be listened to by fans.
