RIP Henri Belolo

FRANCE–Henri Belolo, co-creator of Village People, died on Saturday, Aug. 3. He was 82.
The French music producer helped shape disco music, penning hits that were featured in several films, Broadway, commercials, and more. Of course, their monster hits “Y.M.C.A.,” “Macho Man” and “In The Navy” are also still played at every wedding, party, and bar and bat mitzvah today.
Longtime MSTies will recall that another place “Y.M.C.A.” was played was in a host segment in episode K12- FUGITIVE ALIEN, and it got Joel and the bots dancing.

Billboard has the story.

Weekend discussion thread: LEGO movies

Alert reader Timmy writes:

i know we did this before (but would be fun to revisit)
Each year i go to a local Lego Convention. this year, someone had the The Satellite of Love made out of Lego (with the inside done too). with that in mind, what would be a fun MST3K movie done in Lego. i was thinking The Sword and the Dragon and one of the Sandy Frank Japanese TV shows did. what is your idea for a set.

He also provides a few pictures of the Lego SOL that inspired him…

Weekend Discussion Thread: Come to the Fair!

Alert regular Kenneth (still waiting on that frequency, buddy) offers this:

It’s the time of year when counties, states and municipalities are putting on various fairs, with all the rides, refreshments and attractions that go with them. What MST-related fair attractions can you come up with?

I DO see a lot of guys that look like Torgo running the rides…

Have at it!
