Posted by Sampo, on December 6th, 2024  MIAMI — Songwriter, singer and music producer Steve Alaimo, who participated in the creation of “the Sunshine Sound,” died here November 30.
Working in the ‘60s and ‘70s with artists including Sam & Dave, KC & the Sunshine Band, Betty Wright, George McRae, Timmy Thomas and Clarence Reid, he was a prime architect of their sound, who helped bring the likes of Sam & Dave and Harry Wayne Casey to the world’s attention.
MSTies know him for his role as Rod Tillman in the movie in episode 207- WILD REBELS. He was also mentioned in a host segment in episode episode 521- SANTA CLAUS.

The fun starts bright and early at 5 am ET on November 28th on Shout! TV and The MST3K Channel.
Hosted by Jonah Ray, this year’s marathon features a heaping helping of MST3K stalwarts including Joel Hodgson, Felicia Day, Emily Marsh and Mary Jo Pehl, as well as celebrity MSTies David Dastmalchian, Mike Flanagan, Bryan Fuller, Mark Hamill, Matthew Lillard and Kumail Nanjiani, all of whom will share a favorite MST3K episode with their fellow fans. Plus, the long-awaited return of fan-favorite episode Final Sacrifice to the world of streaming will give us even more reason to be thankful this Turkey Day.

Posted by Sampo, on November 27th, 2024  STUDIO CITY, CALIF. — Earl Holliman, the actor best known for playing Angie Dickinson’s boss on the 1970s NBC cop drama Police Woman, died at his home here Nov. 25. He was 96.
Holliman won a best supporting actor Golden Globe for playing Katharine Hepburn’s kid brother in “The Rainmaker.”
MSTies will remember Joel and the bots’ tribute to him in episode 418- ATTACK OF THE THE EYE CREATURES, which included the observation that Holliman “would have been William Shatner, had there not already been one.”
