Let’s leave aside the gripes about “stunt casting,” and instead ask: what major (or minor) celebrity do you think would work well popping up on MST3K 2.0?
Me, I’m going to say just one word: Shatner.
Who would you like to see?

One of the biggest bombshells Joel dropped in the build-up to the end of the Kickstarter campaign was that A-listers — including Jack Black, Joel McHale, Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris, Jerry Seinfeld and Mark Hamill — have expressed an interest in doing a guest spot on the show.
Let’s leave aside the gripes about “stunt casting,” and instead ask: what major (or minor) celebrity do you think would work well popping up on MST3K 2.0? Me, I’m going to say just one word: Shatner. Who would you like to see? With only 12 hours left in the campaign to #BringBackMST3K, Mystery Science Theater 3000 creator Joel Hodgson will host a very special livestreaming event, “Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Final Countdown” starting tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern/ 5 p.m. Pacific.
Hodgson will welcome a cavalcade of celebrity friends and supporters for an evening of laughs, music, magic, special offers and MST3K memories as they join forces to ensure the campaign meets its ultimate goal of $5.5 million to produce a full season of 12 episodes. Along with special guest hosts, w00tstock founders and musicians Paul & Storm, the telethon will include in-person and video appearances from Felicia Day, Jonah Ray, Hampton Yount, Patton Oswalt, Dan Harmon, Justin Roiland, Robert Lopez, Pendleton Ward, Dana Gould, Steve Zaragoza, Freezepop, Starbomb, Master Pancake, John Carney, Game Grumps and many more! Fans will be able to participate in the festivities by tuning into the livestream of the event at MST3K.com/FinalCountdown and The Official MST3K YouTube Channel, and join in the conversation on social media using the hashtag #BringBackMST3K. In his latest post, Joel reveals that Jack Black, Joel Mchale, Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris, Jerry Seinfeld and Mark Hamill have all expressed an interest in doing guest appearances on the new series.
Movie: (1964) Evil Queen Samar is in cahoots with a cult of monstrous moon men. Herc is determined to stop them. First shown: 8/22/92 • This is, for me, the funniest of the sword-and-sandal movie episodes, and an all-around great episode. As I said with the last one, these Herc movies are just perfect for MST3K, very watchable and very riffable. Strong riffing, great segments, just lots of fun. |
