Iris Zubair of DMagazine.com interviews Joel ahead of his appearance this weekend in Dallas. (Get tickets here.)
We don’t normally post people’s eBay auctions, but this is for a good cause. Reader Hannah is offering a “Riffing Myself” poster, signed by Joel, with 100% of the proceeds going to the American Diabetes Association. Find out more here.
Update: The bidding has ended and the poster sold for $130.01. Our pal Ben from the “Manos” restoration project has posted “The Soundtrack of Fate.” Enjoy!
Thanks to Bob for the heads up! This one came to me following the “merging onto the information superhighway” sketch in “The Starfighters,” which we did for our episode guide entry this week.
Tell us about your first computer — or the first one that you went online with — and what was that experience like? I was working as an electronics retailing journalist at the time and my first computer was a laoner low-end Acer “386” machine running Windows 3.1 with a dial-up modem (Acer never asked for it back). No idea about RAM. And of course it had a 3.5 floppy drive. When I figured out how to use the modem, I initially joined some bulletin boards and actually got into my first internet argument with somebody. I think I got a Prodigy install disk sent to me at work, and I gave it try. It was a lot of fun, especially when I discovered their “TV L-Z” discussion area that included a section on MST3K. What about you? “An Evening with Joel Hodgson” aka “How to Have a Job Like Mine” aka “Riffing Myself”…:
