Long Weekend Discussion Threads

Happy Turkey Day everybody! Because we have a long weekend, I have two topics to get us through.

First–Are you having a Turkey Day marathon this weekend? What are you watching and why?

Me: “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” is a Thanksgiving tradition in my house, but I think I will opt for Cinematic Titanic version. I don’t know whether it’s just that I’ve seen it less often, but right now I think it’s a better version. And of course I’ll be watching 403- CITY LIMITS for next week’s episode guide. I also plan to get to the latest RiffTrax, “Buffalo Rider.”

Second–What MSTed movie character would you like to invite for dinner?

My pick: the giant ducks from episode 523- VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS.

Have at it!

New VOD Title from RiffTrax…

This one looks pretty rugged…

Weekend Discussion Thread: Host Segments You Just Didn’t Get

Alert longtime MSTie Jenny suggests…

I’ve always hated not getting the joke and, well, there some host segments I just didn’t get. Maybe because I was too young or wasn’t Minnesotan. So how about host segments you just didn’t get and scratched your head at. Like in 610- THE VIOLENT YEARS, when Tom reenacts a tearful scene from “A Star is Born.” Didn’t get it.

I’ve always been a bit baffled by the “emotional scientist” sketch from episode 210- KING DINOSAUR. Too many layers.

What segment would you pick?

Kevin and Bill Show Their ‘Wits’ Tonight

If you happen to be in St. Paul, MN, this evening, you might want to drop by the Fitzgerald Theater to see Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett participate in the “Wits Special Edition With John Hodgman” radio show. Also appearing are Neil Gaiman and a bunch of men named John. For more information, click this link.

Coming next from RiffTrax…

Can you really blame Bill?

Update: As Rick Perry would say: “Oops.” We’re told the next release is actually this, another VOD title and Transformers will be next.
