TORONTO–Prolific B-movie producer and writer Harry Alan Towers, who made more than 100 films working with cult stalwarts such as Christopher Lee and director Jess Franco, died here of heart failure Aug. 2. He was 89. MSTies know him as the producer of the movies in episodes K18- THE MILLION EYES OF SU-MURU, 323- THE CASTLE OF FU MANCHU and 519- OUTLAW. He was also a writer for the latter two movies under the pen name Peter Welbeck. The Chronic Rift podcast interviews Bill about the upcoming “Plan 9” riff. The interview starts at about the 2:30 mark. The interview doesn’t really break any new ground, but, like most of these podcasts, the interviewer seems to be in MSTie heaven.
