It’s Battlestar Galactica’s Richard Hatch AND John Saxon, plus lots of anonymous hairy men! How could you go wrong? Got it!!

If you haven’t seen it, there’s a brief Red Letter Media interview with Richard Hatch worth watching where he talked about this very movie. That part starts at 17:10. He seems to think it’s not very good.

Wasn’t this the movie in the opening credits of #305, “Stranded in Space”?

Just checked, Gorn Capt. and indeed it appears to be. That’s the second one now (The other is galaxy invader). Were there more opening credit movies in season 3? does anybody have more energy than me to check?

“Taur the Mighty” was seen in Cave Dwellers. Both Master Ninjas had……something, I don’t know. Beats me if it’s from an actual movie or not.

As for non-Season 3 episodes distributed by Film Ventures International, we have:

*Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster: “Son of Godzilla”

*Space Travelers: I think it’s a spinning globe.

*City Limits: just had freeze frames of the movie itself.

*Being from Another Planet: I have no idea. Just some cheesy computer graphics I guess.

Man, RiffTrax is really cranking out them PD films as fast as they can (though some, like WARRIORS OF THE WASTELAND and GALAXY INVADER, are not truly PD).

Again, is it my computer, but it seems you have removed the Rifftrax Poster to the new VOD – Prisoners of the Lost Universe?

I don’t get it why do new Rifftrax VOD’s/Releases come with one line “Download it or see a sample here”.

Not even the title, description, or poster of the new Rifftrax VOD release is used in this story. But a paragraph is given to a comedy fundraiser because Frank is involved :-/ Doesn’t make much sense.

I’m happy to have all this cheese coming out. (This one looks like a real piece of work.) I’m still happy about them doing mainline movies, though, too.

Anyone else notice that the latest short is only $0.75? They always seemed to go with ~10 minutes of film = ~$1.00, so I’m happy if they’ve decided to charge less for the shorts that only run 7 1/2 minutes or less. As a longtime customer, I approve.

Please, Rifftrax, do more Hollywood Blockbusters and less VOD cheese. The last mp3 riff was “Breaking Dawn” in February and there’s been only three all year so far. I miss the good old days of the blockbuster riffs being released with assembly line regularity.

I’m detoxing hard, fellas! I need more blockbuster riffs. Just one more! How about that abortion of a film “X-Men: First Class?” Do that one stinkburger and I’ll be good for the rest of the year…promise! No more desperate phone calls in the middle of the night! No more hocking Mom’s jewelry to buy iRiffs!

Please Dear God JUST ONE MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Don – thank you for posting the YouTube link. I hadn’t seen it and laughed as I watched it several times.

@Rifftrax – You guys are putting out a VOD about every 2-3 weeks? All I can say is thank you and offer to buy you a round of bacon. And the “this isn’t quicksand” line is one of the contenders for line of the year.

You know, upon further research, I think I was mixing up Kay Lenz with somebody else. But then again, can you blame me? Shannon Tweed would have been great in the part.

Yeah, to update this is what Rifftrax wrote on their Facebook on May 8:

    – Guess it got delayed lol

Rifftrax, please please please more VOD! Nothing makes me happier than watching terrible, but OBSCURE, movies. I will be downloading this one very soon.

A suggestion – if Rifftrax or Cinematic Titanic can do it, 9 Deaths of the Ninja would make great riffing fodder. The “midgets attack Sho Kosugi” scene alone would be worth the price of admission. I can’t remember who holds the rights to it, though.

  35. I got this movie in one of my DVD collection sets. It’s been a while since I watched it, but I don’t recall it being too bad. Not great, but low budget adventure flick. I can’t wait to see a riffing. I hope there’s some NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET jokes. John Saxon plays the movie’s villain.

I really love how they are doing these VODs (wish they were cheaper, since they are PD movies).

For the life of me, I just don’t understand how anyone can watch Hollywood Blockbusters, rifftraxed or not. But especially fans of MST3K

  39. JeremyR says:

And Kay Lenz is in this too. She was in a handful of 80s movies, such as House (which someone mentioned) and Stripped to Kill as well as the video to Rod Stewart’s Infatuation , but mostly she did a lot of guest starring roles on TV. Pretty lady, in a somewhat strange looking way.

Surprised to see people calling for more ‘new movie’ commentaries, I feel the opposite and have bought every VOD they’ve put out this year. I think they make more money off the psychotronic stuff because the more loyal MST3K fans are paying for the shorts & movies while the ‘mainstream’ commentaries are widely bootlegged.

@ 34 “Tom Servo Moment”, perfect phrase for that! I was picturing that little gumball machine in my mind the whole time.

@ 36 In fact, I think little guy (Tom Servo) compared to a big guy (Mr. Murphy) is the funnier one when anger, every time… ;)

  44. Crow T. Robert says:

The VOD’s are great for me because pausing with a synched track can be tricky and backing up to re-view a moment can be even trickier.

I have to agree with someone who posted on another thread that Mike, Kevin and Bill seem more in their element when riffing older or PD movies than with the blockbusters. I thought it might have something to do with the idea that riffing falls flat when the movie is well-received and generally good (Twilight’s riffing worked for me – Inception’s didn’t). I think that’s key. With a good movie, there’s less observed vis a vis what its real faults are (ex. in The Dark Knight, Morgan Freeman goes to China, where he lands on TOP of Lau’s building; CUT TO Freeman all the way DOWN in the lobby of Lau’s building, turning in his phone to a security guard; CUT TO Freeman and Lau, talking in the Penthouse office, all the way back UPSTAIRS; CUT TO Freeman exiting the building all the hell the way back DOWNSTAIRS in the lobby, leaving a wide-open stretch for jokes about the most inconveniently planned building in the world. That’s to say nothing of the security guard’s absent-mindedness in thinking he’s mistaken in having THE ONLY BLACK MAN IN CHINA turn in his phone only a little while ago. I caught both of those production/scripting flaws the second time I saw DK – they completely missed them). Meanwhile, the older Star Warses, along with Star Trek II and Raiders work great because they’re clearly well-worn on all involved (incl Chad Vader). So if a commentary is coming for Avengers, I’ll probably have to pass on it. It’s hard to make fun of something that doesn’t make much of a target of itself, without it feeling ignorantly dismissive somehow.

It could just be that one’s personal bias in favor of a movie makes one resistant to it being picked on. If that’s the case, then Caveat Emptor, I suppose.

That said, Kevin has a great Space Mutiny/Battlestar Galactica save in Prisoners – definitely worth the sawbuck!

@38 – 99% of any media output is useless garbage – foreign films, indies and art house films included. I tend to gravitate towards H’wood Blockbusters because they’re usually more fun.

When this one is released on DVD (and I hope it will), any chance Kevin’s promo will be included as an extra?

  47. Don says:

Kenneth – I really doubt they will release all these VODs on professional DVDs. When you buy the Rifftrax VOD, it includes a burnable DVD ISO where you can make your own DVDs :-) No reason to wait :rotfl:

  48. Kenneth Morgan says:

    @47 Don,

That’d be an option if my computer were a bit more up to scratch technology-wise. Downloading an audio file is one thing; I’m not sure if it can handle a VOD file and burn the disc. Unless I can get someone with a better set-up to do it for me.

Still, I think that most of them will get a DVD release.
