    Jungle Goddess – classic!

and my hero – MR. BEARDSLEY!!!!!!!!!!

    This is absolutely wonderful!

Is this coming out in time for Christmas?!!

Excellent!!! I’ve been wanting a good copy of The Painted Hills since I fell asleep and accidentally wiped “Sweet Metamucil!” off the tape. Don’t care for Squirm, but I love the rest!

Awesome news!!! “The Painted Hills” is one of my top favorite episodes that hasn’t come out on DVD. It’s also nice (and slightly shocking) to see that they got the whole Gumby thing cleared up. Very cool. “Jungle Goddess” was never one of my favorites, but still a classic episode. Honestly, I don’t even remember “Squirm” off the top of my head. I doubt I’ve even watched that one since it was last shown on Sci-Fi.

Yay, The Painted Hills! One of my favorite underrated classics! And I know a buddy of mine who’ll be thrilled to finally have Squirm :)

We’re only two episodes away from having MST3K: The Complete Second Season here. If they’ve got Lost Continent, King Dinosaur, and now Jungle Goddess, then I can’t imagine Rocketship X-M could be far behind. The only real bugaboo would be securing Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster…but Shout already got Puma Man and now the Gumby short, so I’m beginning to think they can pretty much get the rights to anything they want.

My guess is that the Turkey Day reference is probably in regards to the release date – mid to late November.

The only one of these I’ve seen (save for the shorts) is Jungle Goddess. On the Christmas list it goes!

Shout’s got a lot of cool stuff planned for the end of the year – they just announced UHF, Mad Max and Escape From New York.

I don’t give a flying fudge cycle what any the circus freak crybaby Halloween fans (and I am one of them)who have been bitching and moaning all week about the specifications and special features on Shout Factory’s upcoming Halloween Complete Collection Deluxe Edition (which is also super sweet and I ALSO am super psyched for!)… Shout Factory delivers to it’s fan base 100% every time. Since the MST3K 20th Anniversary Collection 5 years ago they have done nothing but swing for the fences and hit it out of the park every time (The Gamera Collection????). And some of these episodes we have written off as legal nightmares that would never see the light of DVD release.
Thank you Shout Factory…for making us laugh at Mickey and Lassie…again.

Lassie, Gumby, and Coily the Spring Sprite all in one MST3K box set. What more could you ask for?

BTW, San Diego Comic Con was definitely a home run for Shout Factory, as, along with the MST3K set, they also announced UHF (as in the Weird Al film), Escape from New York, the original Mad Max, and Zyuranger (aka the original Japanese series that would become Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers). All that’s missing is season 4 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

The Gamera set was truly an outstanding achievement for Shout Factory.

When I saw complainers/reviewers on Amazon bashing the Gamera set, I just shook my turtle head and turned on the rear jets.

with squirm you have only diabolik and track of the moonbeast left for season 10. I think track of the moonbeast is public domain. I think they are going to try to finish season 2 and 10. I think the volume after this should be rocketship x-m, Hercules, track of the moonbeast and diabolik. That way you finished season 10 and almost finish season 2. Hercules will finish the joel half of season 5.

While I don’t think this is the killer lineup that most do, I also do not see the lack of love for Jungle Goddess (#27 excluded). Sure, while it has put me to sleep on occasion, I am glad to be getting a better copy. I am also surprised that this is a 3 black and white set. Only, Squirm saves that.

So, I rate this as a solid, if not spectacular line up. I am still waiting for “Track of the Moon Beast” and someone at Shout! to get on Susan Hart’s good side (whatever it takes!)

Love Screaming Skull. Mickey is about as close to a Torgo family member as you get. Come to think of it, wouldn’t it be cool to be at a Torgo family get-together? I smell a holiday movie hit! “Would you….(grunt)….please….um…..(arm outstretching in odd and unsettling manner)….pass the…(squirming in seat)…..gravy?” Also, what’s not to love with Gumby and his Class F license? I also enjoy Painted Hills, perhaps more since I watched a lot of Lassie as a young’un. Don’t remember much about Jungle Goddess or Squirm. But overall, a better set than most and certainly better than Vol. XXX.

    GREAT SET
I love Jungle Goddess (Wanama dumb) , Painted Hills is the last of the Warner titles they acquired, Screaming Skull is another solid episode with the Gumby short, I bet they pounced on it once they could license it..and Squrim, not only do we get the MST version but Scream Factory has it scheduled for blu ray this fall, uncut.
Overall a solid set and hope it sells well :)

  43. Brandon says:

In the case of “Squirm”, I think it has more to do with MGM (I think that’s the company that owns Squirm) saying yes. Jeff Leiberman has no say on how that movie’s released (one of the things he ranted about regarding the MSTed version).

I can only imagine how he’s reacting right now. He must be pouting in a corner somewhere, hugging a little teddy bear….

  46. Yeah, this is another good one. SQUIRM is one of my Sci-Fi season favorites (plus, that movie ain’t all that bad…) and PAINTED HILLS is an okay episode; the short really steals the show in that one. The other two, JUNGLE GODDESS and THE SCREAMING SKULL are only “fair” in my book, but with the rights issues of the Gumby short that we’ve all been aware of for years, the inclusion of SKULL is a most welcome surprise. Thumbs up, Shout!Factory!

Shout!Factory’s subdivision ScreamFactory is releasing a Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray of SQUIRM in October, so the inclusion in a MST set is not exactly surprising (gonna be a lot of Squirming going on this fall, as I imagine Vol. XXXI will be out in November). What IS surprising is that we have yet to see INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN hit a MST set yet, as ScreamFactory released that on BluRay back in July of 2013. Hmmmmm….I’m still waiting on that one….

The “turkey day collection” tweet that Shout! sent out (mentioned @#6 and by others) I believe means that this new Volume will see release sometime in late November, but hopefully it also means that they will include some Turkey Day bonuses. I think so far only the T.D. ’95 bumpers and segments have seen release, on Vol. XVI.

Now the waiting begins for the official Bonus Features announcement…
    :-)

Feel like this is a solid set but without a bona fide classic. I really do enjoy all four eps though and, as always, remain a huge fan of Shout.

It’s all subjective, of course, but these are the remaining yet to be released eps that I consider to be 5 star classics:

    Season Three

305 – Stranded in Space (CBS)
    307 – Daddy-O (Arkoff Estate)
309 – The Amazing Colossal Man (Susan Hart)
311 – It Conquered the World (Susan Hart)
319 – War of the Colossal Beast (LionsGate)

    Season Four

    401 – Space Travelers (Columbia/Sony)
    403 – City Limits (LionsGate)
405 – Being from Another Planet (Roger Corman)
416 – Fire Maidens of Outer Space (Olive Films)
418 – Attack of the The Eye Creatures (MGM)

    Season Six

    601 – Girls Town (LionsGate)
614 – San Francisco International (Universal)
618 – High School Big Shot (Public Domain)

    Season Seven

703 – Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell (Roger Corman)
704 – The Incredible Melting Man (MGM)

    Season Eight

806 – The Undead (Arkoff Estate)
814 – Riding with Death (Universal)
