A question for Murray scholars. I’ve been wondering about Pedro, Santa’s little helpmate and one of the most blatant scene stealers I’ve ever seen in a movie. Lupita gets all the attention from fans and deserves it; God, look at that face. The girl looks like she just walked through a bombed-out city. Who could deny her a dolly, any dolly? Pedro, meanwhile, is incessantly pulling faces, making gestures, and frantically being just as cute as possible in a desperate bid to keep the camera focused on HIM. It takes gall to steal scenes from Santa Claus.

Anyway, my question: Is Pedro the same actor who played Tom Thumb in a different Murray movie? Prior to dubbing, is it possible they were even supposed to be the same character? Or am I being confused by the similar costumes?

I’m not a Murray scholar in any way, but a quick IMDb search says yes, that is the same actor.

  4. To answer your question: Cesáreo Quesadas ‘Pulgarcito’ is the same actor in both SANTA CLAUS and the TOM THUMB series. As far as I know, SANTA CLAUS was the only film Lupita Quezadas starred in. I highlighted most of this in the SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE DEVIL featurette, but I excluded the Lupita material due to running time restraints (along with other info). Most there will be more detail in the Murray documentary.

    Oh my God.

Did a Google search and just discovered Cesareo is currently in prison for allegedly abusing his wife and/or daughter. He insists he’s innocent, and I’d like to hope he is.
